In his room Drake could feel something unpleasant in the air. When he realized where the feeling was strongest he rushed to Raine’s room and knocked a few times. She answered looking none too happy about her rest being interrupted.
“What do you want?” She ran a hand through her raven hair and leaned against the doorframe, awaiting an answer.
“I felt something wrong. The feeling seemed to come from your room, I’m sorry if I woke you,” He looked past her and shuddered, “Was there something here before? I can still feel it.”
She shrugged, “Nothing dangerous, just an old friend of my sister. You’re just feeling his presence, which really isn’t all that surprising considering that he’s a vampire,” She smiled when his eyes widened, “It’s alright, he has one of the pack stones. We can trust him. Well, I can, anyway.”
“You had a one of those things here? With innocent humans?” He regretted his last sentence as soon as it had passed his lips, he tried to look away but her voice made him turn back to her.
“If there is only one thing you need to understand it is this; no humans are innocent. They hate the things they do not understand which includes our kind. They have no problem destroying those things, either.” She spoke softly, but he could feel the anger behind her words as strongly as if she had screamed them, “I don’t care if he does kill someone in this town, it’s one less human to act against our people.” She glared at him and stepped back from the doorframe, reaching to close the door.
“Wait! I’m sorry, I was raised among humans. I can’t hate them the way you do. I will do anything I can to help you find out who attacked Wolfstone, but I don’t think I can trust a vampire. No matter how safe he seems.” He left her and returned to his room.
