Siri looked up at the stars, thinking about her life. It was almost time for her to leave her special place on the hill, for dawn was fast approaching. If she didn’t leave, then others would know her secret, and Siri wasn’t ready for her parents and sister to know yet. Plus, she had enough things to deal with, responsibilities that needed tending to, homework not yet finished. “English, geometry, and science homework, just my luck,” she sighed, “I can’t believe it.”

Willing herself to get up, she grabbed her notebooks filled with her poems and spread her wings, literally. Focusing on flying, Siri flew into the air and soared away, back to her home in North Carolina. It did not take long for her to get home, even though she was coming from all the way across the country. Her silver, angel like, wings made her fly as fast as she needed.

She had been doing this for many months now, flying back and forth across country to read her poems to the children that needed inspiration. It gave her a feeling of joy, being able to inspire people that needed it. From writers to baseball players, every night she somehow knew that people needed her help, they needed inspiration to live on and succeed. She could never turn a person down, no matter how tired she was that day, or how much homework she had to do. This was something that she needed to do.

So every night, Siri went out and did her duty, getting away from the crashes and yelling coming from outside her bedroom door. The sounds of pain and anger that made her days turn cold and dark even if the day was warm and clear. It was a great thing to go do every night. It was a release; it made her feel like she was an angel and not a nuisance. That she was free and could live the way she pleased, even though it was another responsibility that needed to be done. At least this was not a nuisance like the other ones Siri was used to.

Siri reached her house just as the sun began to peak over the cliffs next to her house. She wasn’t tired at all, in fact, she felt refreshed and ready to start the day. Nothing could bring the newfound angel down, not even the sounds of breaking glass and painful screams coming from downstairs. As she climbed through her window, she spotted a picture of her best friend on her science book and smiled. “This will be a good day. I know it,” she whispered.
