Drama Club Vampire: Chapter 9

For killing my father!!”

Drake awoke from his dream and sat up, sweating and panting. It was morning, the sun gleaming through his curtains. He sighed and turned over. As soon as his head hit the pillow his alarm clock began blaring. He moaned, and got out of his bed. He walked over to his alarm clock and hit the snooze button.

“15 more minutes...”

He lied back down once again, and closed his eyes.

“GOOD MORNING MASTER DRAKE!” Maxwell yelled, bursting into his room. Drake sat up once more and gave him the glance of death.

“GET OUT.”

“Ah, but Master Drake...” Maxwell said reluctantly. “I made...”

Drake’s alarm clock flew across the room. Maxwell screamed a little and looked over at Drake, who seemed furious.

“Made...what?”

“Ah...see...you looked so ill last night...I decided to make you a special breakfast to cheer you up!” Maxwell laughed. All of a sudden he was pushed up against the wall; Drake’s clawed arm extending right next to his face.

“Maxwell, I’m tired, frustrated, threatened, and half naked. BREAKFAST. CAN. WAIT.”

Maxwell slid down to the ground, and wobbled over to the door. He opened it, and turned to look at Drake, whose head was down, staring at his broken alarm clock.

“Just...leave me be.”

Maxwell hesitated, before closing the door. “Aye, Master Drake.”

Drake continued to stare at the broken alarm clock. He was startled when he found out the snooze alarm still rang, but shook his head and grabbed a towel for his shower.

“Hmm? What’s the matter Drake?” Alexi asked him, taking a bit into her tuna sandwich.

“Huh? Oh, uh...nothing. I’m fine.” He said, turning his head every few seconds, keeping a look out for Bryant. “He see’s me, he’ll probably try to kill me!”

“Oh! There he is! Bryant!” Alexi waved to the young man, who had just stepped out of the lunch line. Drake turned and looked half angry at Alexi, and half nervous towards the Bryant. The hunter turned his head, and smiled at Alexi. He put his tray on the table and sat down across from the two.

“And how’s the lovin couple today?” Bryant laughed.

“Oh hoh...stop it Bryant.” Alexi giggled, blushing. Drake just glared at Bryant. Bryant took notice.

“Hmm? Somethin wrong, Drake?” Bryant smirked.

“...no...” Drake muttered, looking the other way. “What’s his game?! He’s acting like that scene last night never happened!”

“So, did you guys see that new movie, 1300?” Bryant laughed, looking at Drake. “It’s...to DIE for...”

“Yeah, I’ve wanted to see it!” Alexi giggled.

“Oh, that reminds me Drake!” Bryant glared at him. “You have practice tonight for the play, but after that, wanna meet in the science lab on the 3rd floor and work on our project?”

“Project?”

“Yeah! You remember, the one where we hafta dissect a bat?” Drake smirked wickedly.

...A challenge?” Drake thought to himself. “...oh yeah...that one.”

“Let’s meet up after your rehearsal! It’ll be a...killer time...”

Argh...all these hidden meaning threats are annoying...” Drake thought. “...yeah...”

Alexi looked between the two of them confusingly, sensing a bit of hostility. She opened her mouth to ask, but the bell rang.

“Well, sorry to cut things short here, but I gotta go to class now. Later guys.” Bryant said, waving and walking away.

Alexi looked at Drake, still confused. “Ah...” she began, but Drake got up and threw away his trash, and walked down the hall way without saying a word.

“...”

After school was out, Alexi walked towards rehearsal. Along the way, she met up with Janelle.

“Ah, hello today!” Alexi waved.

“Hmm? Oh, it’s you again. What do you want?”

“Well, we’re both going to rehearsal, so I figured we could walk together!” Alexi smiled.

“What, you got a crush or something?” Janelle frowned.

“No...I...”

“Look, just because we’re in this play together doesn’t mean we’re friends.” Janelle flipped her boa and walked faster than Alexi, and turned a corner.

Alexi stood in the middle of the hallway, her eyes slightly tearing.

Oh, stop being such a cry baby!”

Alexi turned around, thinking she heard a voice. No one was around.

You’ve put up with worse!”

The voice seemed familiar. Alexi tried putting a face to the voice. “...Izzy?”

Hah! In the 10 years I’ve known you, when have you ever stopped trying?”

“Yeah...that is what she would say...” Alexi smiled, wiping the tear from her eye. “If Janelle won’t show me any respect, I’m just going to have to give her reason to.”

“Hmm? Alexi? What are you still doing here?” Drake said, coming from around the corner.

Alexi beamed towards him. “Nothing. We’re gunna be late for rehearsal.” She looked down the hall way, and back to Drake. “Race ya!” She laughed, taking off down the hallway.

Drake shook his head laughing, and took off after her. From a nearby stairway, Bryant peered towards Drake, with hate in his eyes. He opened his bag, and took out a long stretch of wire. “Tonight...”
