A/N: My first Myth. I've tried something I don't think anyone else has tried. I basically took the Greek Gods and made their Roman counterparts their relatives in some way (ie, Venus and Aphrodite are sisters.)

Enki is a Babylonian myth name of the 'creator'. But the name derived from en-kur which means 'lord of the underworld', hence he turns into what he turns into.

Ceto comes from a Greek form of Keto which means 'dangers of the sea'. Basically ptu, it means 'Sea Monster' so she became what she became.

So please, don't flame because you don't like what I did and how I wrote about it. Flames will be ignored. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Nevermore Lover

It's a sin to fall in love with your sibling. It was greatly frowned upon by the Gods. Ceto and Enki knew this law. They knew it, and they disobeyed it.

Ceto was a goddess in her right, beautiful, stunning and strong. She loved the sea, and clashed with it at the same time. Her pale skin and flowing fire red hair caught the eyes of many mortal men and gods alike. She went against Venus and Venus' sister Aphrodite on the basis of beauty. Her mood matches the sea, and her motions as she dances plays with the waves and taunts any male brave enough to watch.

A myth about her says she would seduce men and ultimately lead them to their doom in the churning waters of the ocean. Other goddesses envied her, and mortal women greatly despised her.

As for her identical twin brother, Enki, he was just as beautiful as his sister. Slender body, lean and tall; he had a partially cold heart. He spent much of his time in the dark forests of the mortal land, lounging in trees and watched mortal couples frolic and love each other. But it would be wrong if it wasn't said that he caught the eyes of women's eyes. He was just like his sister.

They spent much time together, she teaching him to dance, he teaching her to wield a sword. They were as close as a brother and sister could get without it becoming a threat to their lives. But there have been very few times when he looked into his sister's eyes and see her full red lips and not think about kissing them.

Gentle embraces and the holding of hands were all they could do. And Enki would be a womanizer. And there hasn't been one woman he's bed which he didn't imagine it was Ceto beneath him, calling his name in pleasure. And the same went for Ceto; she dreams about her brother touching her in ways the men she seduced would touch her.

They loved each other they way the rest of the Gods would frown upon. And they began to hide their affections from the other Gods. Enki found ways to kiss his sister the way a lover would, but he made seem like a gentle brotherly motion. Kissing her cheek, her forehead; it quelled some of his hunger, but it didn't sedate it as much. It actually fueled the fire more and it more irresistible.

It was a warm summer day when the twins went walking in the wildflower fields around Olympus. They held hands, talking about nothing and gossiping about other gods and goddesses good heartedly. They told jokes, raced each other, and practiced their different abilities.

It was when they made it to a small clearing in a forest near a crystal clear lake that they decided to rest.

As Ceto danced next to the lake, Enki carved a small wooden figurine of his dancing sister. He stopped when it was completed and lounged against one of the great trees to watch his sister dance in all her beauty. Her sky blue silky garments flowing around her body, her long fiery red hair contrasting with the gently blue. The gold bangles on her wrists clanked together, creating the music to go with her dancing.

It didn't take much for his sinful thoughts to arise in his mind. He noticed his breathing getting heavy, and a calling from his groin making his arousal more evident through his own garments. He looked over to his sister, who now looking at him with the same lust in her eyes.

Enki couldn't take the anguish from the pain. He got up in a swift movement and pulled his sister to him, their lips coming together in a forbidden kiss filled with built up lust and love.

The sound of thunder broke their spellbound kiss and the rumbling earth separated them. Ceto lost her balance and fell into the lake, the water now a dark inky color and think as tar. Enki moved to save her, but Zeus' lightning bolt started a circle of flames around him cutting him off from his attempt to rescue his love.

The flames moved toward him and finally engulfed his body. They burned his skin and deformed him, his beauty deteriorating before his very eyes. He fell to his knees, his hands on his head as he felt his skull grow horns, long and twisting like antlers of a deer. He drew his hands down his face, scratching himself with overgrown claws colored black and rotting.

His legs grew longer and shaped into those of a dog's hind legs, and an extension from the bottom of his spine grew out to be a skinny black tail, scaly and also black.

The fire stopped suddenly, leaving his deformed body exposed to the inhabitants of the forest. He was no longer that equivalent of Adonis, but a monster to make a Cyclops proud. He looked toward the dark Heavens to see Zeus standing on one of the dark clouds, scowling down at him.

'What have you done to my sister!?' he cried to the sky. 'Where is Ceto!?'

Zeus pointed a thunderbolt at the tar lake. Enki crawled over to the edge and looked into the murky water that was once so clear and beautiful.

'There is your precious sister,' Zeus said disgustingly. 'She deserves this imprisonment. Your souls dirty the water from which you both spawned from. It would only suit her to have this as her prison.'

'Ceto…'

She knelt at the bottom of the lake, thorn bushes twisted around her body to entrap her in her position. Her silky garments and her long hair floated around her body in the water. She lost color; Enki saw her in black and white. She looked up to him, holding out her bleeding hands to her brother, her eyes crying blood.

She was deformed as well. Her eyes pure black, her once colorful and vibrant hair as inky as the water that traps her. Her skin pale as snow and her body as thin as a young sapling. He was a corpse, slowly beginning to rot away into nothing.

'Love between siblings is a sin,' Zeus continued. 'This is the punishment. The both of you are hereby exiled from Olympus and the mortal world. This lake is all you will see, and each other is all the company you shall have.'

Enki watched Zeus make his way back to Olympus. He could see all the goddesses he had once known cry over his deformity. The other gods seemed to be silently rejoicing over his misfortune, as did the jealous goddesses over his sister's.

He cursed them all to rot as he dived down into the water. He swam down to where his corpse of a sister was and took her outstretched hand in his deformed clawed one. He moved close to her, whispering soothing words to her as her brother, but gently kissing her as her lover.

They already were in a misfortunate circumstance, and they would be together until the end of time. The corpse at the bottom of the lake with her deformed devil.
