Chapter One: Alissa Easton
She awoke from the ring of her phone. Her friend, Kathy, was on the other line.
“Can you come over?” Kathy asked.
“No, I’m grounded,” Alissa replied.
“Are you bored?”
“Dying, dying…” The phone went dead.
“She hung up on me!” Kathy said in surprise. She hung up the phone. As soon as she did, it rang again. “Hello?”
A deep voice from the other line said, “Dead.” Again, the phone went dead.
“Whatever,” Kathy said to herself, hanging up.
The next day was Sunday. Kathy walked to Alissa’s house. Upon arrival, she knocked on the white door. Mr. Easton answered.
“Hi, Mr. Easton. Is Alissa home?”
“Yeah, she’s in her room. I think she’s still asleep, but you can go wake her up.”
Alissa’s room was at the end of the hall. Kathy walked to the room. She opened the closed door. What she saw was not what she expected.
Alissa was on the floor, a pool of what appeared to be blood around her. On the floor next to her was a chainsaw, red on the sharp edges. Kathy gasped, sickened. She screamed, unable to look at her dead friend. Mr. and Mrs. Easton both ran to the room. Mrs. Easton covered her mouth and looked away. Mr. Easton held his wife and stared sadly at his only daughter, sliced in two, on the wooden bedroom floor, a pair of blood covered rubber gloves inches from her head.
