Ch. 2 The Brass Key
“Hello Daddy! I’m having fun with my new friends.” Said a young girl. Her sweet voice was soon broke by her screams of pain. “No Daddy not the closet. Please not the closet. A loud thud was heard and the shutting of a door. “Please Daddy.” The turning of a key was sounded as the girl banged against the door. “please let me out!” The sound of crying lifted in the air. “DADDY!…”
Sarah awoke from the dream to the sound of crying. Looking around the moon lit room. The light of the moon shimmered off of all the dolls. Another whimper came from behind Sarah. She turned around and looked to the closet. Crying came from behind the door. Sarah got up and slowly walked to the closet‘s door. She tried opening it but, it wouldn’t move. A quiet voice of a little girl came from the doors other side. “Its Locked.”
Sarah got down on the floor to look through the crack under the door to see who was in the closet. “Are you okay? How did you get locked in there?”
The voice was closer for the little girl moved toward the door. “My Daddy had locked me in here, I’m scarred”
Sarah sat on her knees and looked through the key hole to see the transparent form of a little girl, leaning against the door. “Why would he lock you in there?” She asked sincerely.
“So I don’t see all my friends die.” the girl said.
“Ill find way out for you.” She said getting up to leave.
“A Brass key.” The girl whispered.
“What?” Sarah said rushing back to the door.
“A Brass key can open this door. The only thing is, its in my Daddy’s room.
Sarah Looked side to side as if hoping some kind of map would lead her there, yet she couldn’t find anything that would appear out of thin air. Giving up she leaned against the door and asked “How do you get there?”
“Follow the scraping sounds.” The voice was quieter then before.
“You, stay right there I’ll be back.” Sarah said and got up.
She ran out the door looking left to right. ‘The scrapping sounds? Didn’t I hear them earlier? The right? Away from the entrance!’ She took a right turn and walked down the long hallway. A sharp scream of a teenage girl echoed through the halls. ‘ What was that?’ Sarah thought scarred. A boy yelled “XANDRA!” another boy yelled “Run!” Running footsteps were heard. Sarah started to run trying to get away from the fast steps. A cold feeling rushed through her body and in front of her was a transparent teenage boy running away from something. Sarah startled fell to the ground. She got on all fours and started crawl as fast as she could. The boy ran through a door and there was no more sounds.
Sarah scrambled to her feet and started to run. A loud bang came from the entrance. “How the hell do we get out of here?!” Sarah’s ears heard these words. Nothing stopped her. Her feet raced as fast as her heart, all she wanted to do was get that brass key. She kept running and heard a loud crash. “Run Xander!” Yelled the voice that had said run earlier. Sarah kept running, she looked behind her and saw another teenage boy running towards her. Foolishly she ran into a wall not noticing the turn.
She ricocheted off of the wall and onto the floor. The transparent boy stopped and leaned down over Sarah. “Are you okay?” He asked her quickly. “Ill be okay.” she said rubbing her head as she got up. She looked at the boy and screamed. “We have no time for this! We need to get out!” The ghost grabbed her hand and started to run. Sarah stood there. “Wait up!” she yelled running after him. He ran though a door. Sarah slammed the door open and went in closing it. “ What are we running from!?” she asked freaking out.
“We’re running from him.” he said pointing at a picture and panting. Sarah looked at the portrait, it was of a man. “Who is this?” She asked looking over the picture.
“He’s the man who owns this house.” The boy said.
“Wait, What room is this?” Sarah asked hoping she was in the right spot.
“This is His room.” The ghost said.
“Good.” Sarah said starting go through drawers looking around.
“What are you looking for?” The ghost asked.
“The Brass key, now if you wouldn’t mind whatever your name is Help!” she said still looking.
“Um, My name is Xander thank you and why?” He asked not budging.
“Because we need to get that girl out of the closet.” Sarah said throwing cloths on the floor.
“You mean Kury?” the ghost asked.
“Yeah we need to get her ou- Found it!” Sarah lifted up a brass key and looked at it. “Thanks for your Help Xander.” She said sarcastically. She ran to the door and opened it.
A man with two swords in his hands stood in her way. “Well Hello there miss. I see I have more “friends” for my daughter.” As he said this he jabbed at Sarah with one of the swords. She hurriedly ducked and scrambled underneath his legs. He turned around to grab her. Sarah screamed feeling his cold hand go through her face. ‘He cant touch me.’ She thought. Xander jumped on the man covering his eyes. The man swung back and forth trying to get Xander off of him. “Run!” Xander yelled to Sarah.
Sarah got on her feet and ran with all her will power to Kury’s room. A few moments later she finally got there. She ran through the doorway. “Kury hold on I’m going to get you out.” She looked through her pockets for the key. “Hurry please, get me out!” Kury yelled through the door. Sarah found the key and nervously put it in the keyhole. Scrapping sounds was heard. “Hurry he’s coming!” Kury pleaded as the scrapping got louder. Sarah turned the key and opened the door. Kury stood in the middle of the closet. She looked down from the ground and up to Sarah. “Thank you.” she said as she floated up into the air and disappeared.
“So you’ve freed my daughter?” said the voice of a man from behind Sarah. “Then I shall need another one.” He said as he lunged one of his swords into Sarah’s back. She felt it. Blood came from where the sword protruded. She coughed and blood came from her mouth. “Welcome to the world of the Damned.” The man said as Sarah crumbled hard to the floor.
