Bittersweet Lies

When is it alright to hide from the truth?

Sometimes

We need to be wrapped in our own lies

To make it alright-

Sweet untruths to drug us into peace,

Pull us away

From cruel reality.

White lies

Sugary, with a bitter aftertaste;

But a little more sweetness

Can make that better.

Instantly, feeding lies with lies.

But that makes it all better.

And hiding in the dark

Makes it alright

To not have eyes.
