Fading Sky
Just a little something I came up with for a contest… Ack! Love poetry is not my thing, but this is kind of different… At least, I think and hope so. Give me your thoughts.
I've never been too clever,
And It's hard to understand,
How to hold your hand,
Sweating and nervous,
Stupid with glee,
I'm shaking, your giving,
All your smiles to me.
It's like in a classroom,
Before an exam,
Everyone Is nervous,
"Just do what you can."
We're all secluded,
Yet we are all one,
We'll pass on the answers,
To those who have none.
Where are my answers?
Where are the rules?
I can't help but think,
Those In love are fools.
I'm quite happy to join them,
As I try to smile back,
She's trying so hard,
Not to laugh.
Thank God she doesn't like dancing,
That would turn this scene upside-down.
I can't feel anything Inside of me,
My thoughts; drifting out of me,
We embrace, and she takes me,
Moving awkwardly,
Loss of balance, Is one symptom,
The others still unfound,
But I'm sure I'll run into them.
I've never been good with words,
But love has no language to put to verse,
This Is not a love poem, It's a description,
Of stupid, slow movements, beating hearts,
What a scene, what a piece of art.
Still don't know the reason why,
When I'm with you,
I feel alive.
I'm laughing now, You're laughing at me,
I try to look into your eyes without smiling,
That's what couples do on silver screen,
Everything's so perfect In their romantic dream.
Your eyes are blue
- Are pulling me,
Calling me In,
I try to lean closer,
- The moment's at hand -
I reach your lips, You squeeze my hand,
And In a heap of laughter and screams,
We fall to the floor,
From where we had been.
We roll our eyes, We'll never get this right.
Lying back, We watch the sky,
Blue, drifting over us,
Waiting for us to die,
I smirk, and I challenge It,
"Oh, fading sky,
Don't compare to your eyes."
