Just for reference, this does not refer to me. I think. Consciously, anyway. I was just one of my more melancholy moods when I wrote this.

I Am Not and I Do Not

This beautiful sunshine,
It sparkles down on me.
It caresses my face,
Cradles my soul.
It wakes me up to a new day,
A new day filled with sorrow and pain.

A beautiful dawn shines upon me,
Bringing a new hope,
A new light.

On this beautiful day...
Why am I here?
I don’t belong here.

I’m not beautiful like the rays of the sun.
I’m not peaceful like the chirps of birds.
I’m not innocent like the children that play.
I’m not soft like the golden clouds of heaven in the sky.
I’m not tall or strong like the firm mountains above.
I’m not sweet like the butter on my black toast.
I’m not smooth like the grace of the wind in my hair.

So why am I here?
I’m different from everyone and thing;
I do not belong here.
