To Love and to Hold

My blood’s ice, my breath’s a little shaky;
Why does my heart beat so very, very fast?
Crushing confusion blistering the spirit within me,
Just how long can this possibly last?
Closing my eyes in hopes that my soul will be free,
It’s then that I realize a powerful spell has been cast.

Within me there now lies a fiery passion,
For your beauty is my only – my greatest – obsession.
You came along and conquered all of my fears,
And now all that remains is to rid you of your tears.
From a great cliff fell I but you taught me to fly;
How can I return the favor when you continue to cry?

What I desire cannot be described as either money or fame,
But I will not lie to you, for my moral soul’s got more than one stain.
I was in need and – my sweet angel – you came,
Destroyed all my demons and made me very sane.
You were in need and – I’m sorry – I brought you naught but dark shame,
But God forbid your love shall ever be in vain.

No longer will I let you down;
No longer will I leave you to drown.
No longer will I hide behind some stupid rock;
And to us no longer will others ever mock.
From now on I will stand tall,
Give you my best and everything my all.

Your heart sang to mine,
My heart sang to yours,
Forever to love and always to hold;
Amen, for we survived.
Amen, for our love’s been realized.
