LOTUS DREAMS: A STORY OF KYNK

As Mikkell strained against the tempestuously falling snow and sleet, he thought that he saw a light in the distance. He had been traveling for days with no food, and was not only ravenously hungry, but also, nearly frozen from the cold of the week long blizzard. Mikkel kept on tracking slowly toward the dim light. As he moved closer to the lamination, He saw that he was actually drawing closer to what appeared to be a tavern. Mikkell pulled his coats closer around himself to glean what little warmth they could provide. He was soon upon the alehouse and looked forward to reprieve from the storm. A little warmth, ale, and mutton would be nice, he thought to himself.

Mikkell walked up the stone steps to the little wooden building with a torch shining on a ring stand beside the worn, beaten door. The windows to the tavern seemed to be dark and even absorbed the light from around them. Mikkell would normally have noted this and taken great alarm, but the fatigue of several days travel and the cold combined to lower his awareness. He put his hand to the copper knob and twisted. Mikkell opened the door, stepped forward, and fell into nothingness.
