Sitting here in cruel sapphire blades

The purple skies sailing gently over

Pink clouds bobbing like cotton candy

The icy breeze biting and nipping

On my exposed, pale flesh

They say I’m out of touch and distant

That I don’t understand their reality

But I know what lies just beyond my refuge

The pain and the chaos of the “real” world

Sleep carries me beyond the world they know

The flowers here smell like gumdrops

And fairies dance to hidden melodies

Unicorns in every color of the rainbow

Prance gleefully as I pass them by

The ribbons in their manes gently flowing

While I bask in such delightful radiance

Monsters beckon me to the other side

An alarm calling and screaming for me

If I can just hold onto this paradise

I won’t face tomorrow’s demons

White picket fences in front of manor houses

A phoenix soars gently overhead

Pixies floating in flower petal gowns

The stars shine here only for me

Could you imagine such a place?

I can’t share this with others

Not even you, love, would believe me

The shades of violet the skies could be

The unicorns, dragons, pixies, and fairies

Would remain as dead to you as yesterday

The elves teach me the ways of the stars

Birds sing melodies at my ears

The wolf’s chorus cuts through the night

A Dragon makes a warm blaze for me

And shows me his golden riches

I may weak to face tomorrow

You can say my escape doesn’t exist

I’ll smile a fake smile just for you

But nothing can change the truth

You don’t see it – but love – there’s a paradise

I’ll sit in my delightful prison tonight

I’ll yearn forever until the day’s end

Go to the place where I wash away reality’s pain

The only way I know how – here in my dreams

I’ll sit in azure grass and weep lavender tears
