The land holds nothing for me now
Maybe I should try a life at sea instead
And so I write a shanty for my soul
Because it's the last chance I have

I have a ton of bad ideas in my head
I think that they shall remain there
Until I'm rendered still and dead
But perhaps a sea-faring wind could blow them away

A mariner's life
Funded by a moron's money
A stupid idea
Fueled by my own inhibitions

This is the way I've chosen to live my life...
This is the way, I'll probably chose to die...
It still remains questionable
If I'm fit to live with people

So send me to sea
Strung out on rum and caffeine
To stimulate my laziness away
Depressants please me like my lovers never could,

Three sheets to the wind
To forget where I have been...
It's a privateer's life for me
Except with a little less sin

An unusual life
Funded by a moron's money
A stupid idea
Fueled by my own inhibitions

A watery grave
Inside a lamprey's stomach
While trying to reach foreign shore
Because it sounds good in theory

But so did communism...
Still I'll christen my ship
And seek the open ocean
To clear my cluttered mind...

Land is hatred
Land is ignorance
Land is nothing
Because we've made it that way...

Land is worthless
So let us flee
Avoid the shore
And set to sea...

Set sail
And leave our worries behind
Leave our worries behind us
Set sail and leave the shore from our minds
It's a mariner's life for you and me...
