Changes
As the sun rose over the campgrounds, birds began to chirp their song and everyone was pretty much getting up. Cody gave a loud yawn and got up out of bed. His hair was a mess and his eyes were still pretty heavy. As he changed into his clothes, he noticed something about his upper body. For one it was slightly more muscular, not too bulging, but still, you don’t grow muscles like that over night. Plus, his wound was gone, nowhere to be found. At first he thought he was just hallucinating; maybe nothing even happened that night, all a dream…then he turned around and found the same gold statue of that fireball. Then during lunch, another school bully, Drake, was ready to beat the crap out of him. Luckily, it was if he spider-sense or something, he swiftly and gracefully dodged the punch. Then, he returned the favor and punched him, hard…I mean really hard. The blow proved so powerful, Drake crashed through a couple of tables…and then slammed face first into the wall.
Cody thought the whole thing over for a second. Was he becoming another Spider-Man? Probably not, if he was then he would be able to shoot webs and stick to walls…well he could, but his finger nails were more like claws. They simply sank deep into a surface and he could climb on the walls. And rather than webs…he shot fire. For this one cruel joke, he decided to burn Drake’s lunch. When Drake noticed, he went back to get another. Then Cody shot another small fireball, which caused the lunch to be blazing hot. The second that food touched his tongue, he was crying for water. Cody couldn’t help bursting out in laughter. Once Belle and Cody got back home, they had a nice turkey dinner. The next day Cody got up early. Since it was Sunday, he got to train with his newly acquired powers. He went to the top of a building and looked down. “Pretty long way down…” He muttered. He took a few hesitant steps back, and then he sprinted. He took a huge leap and soared over the building. He let out a triumphant shout. Then he looked ahead and noticed the billboard sign ahead of him. He screamed and slammed into the board. He slowly slid off the billboard and fell on his back.
“What happened to you?”
Cody had visited Aiko, who was wondering how he got such a huge lump on his head. “I…uh…” Cody began. “I accidentally slammed my head into a brick wall…” “That must’ve been a hard hit.” Aiko replied, who gave a small smile. “So how does your arm feel?” Cody put his arm up on the table. “It’s better now.” “Already?” Aiko said in amazement. “But it hasn’t even been two days…”
“Well I heal pretty fast.”
“You didn’t heal so quickly when Drake beat you up that one time.”
“…Well I still healed pretty fast don’t you think?”
“Yeah, it only took two weeks for those wounds to heal…”
Cody simply shrugged. He waved good-bye to Aiko and walked into his house, went into his room, and began reading his manga. After a couple of minutes, Cody discovered another useful ability: super hearing. He accidentally listened in on his mother and grandpa’s discussion. “I’m beginning to run low on money.” His mother had said. “I eventually won’t be able to pay the rent…” “But then that would mean we would have to get out of here then wouldn’t we?” Grandpa Joe had said. “And what about the kids? How would they react if we told them this?” Cody had stopped listening. He thought it over for a bit. If mom can’t pay rent…he thought. Then we would be forced to live on the streets! Belle would simply die if I told her any of this… Then he remembered this poster he saw hung up outside of the local stadium. There was a big fight going on in which anyone could challenge this big brute known as the Crusher. The prize was one million dollars. If he could win that contest, then he could help mom pay the rent. Plus with his new powers…
He thought it over for a second and decided to challenge the menacing brute in a one-on-one caged match. He grinned, “This shouldn’t be too hard right?” So he quickly asked his sister to make him a costume. "Why would I want to make you a costume?" Belle asked. Cody didn't want to tell her but he had to. "Well, I'm entering this contest." He began slowly. "Since mom isn't able to pay for rebt and all of that, we might have to live on the streets and all of that stuff. And the contest happens to be a wrestling match against some big fat brute. The prize is a million dollars, and when I win the money, I can help pay for the rent..." He stopped because he saw that Belle looked ready to faint. So he told her about the powers. "And I have demon powers..." With that Belle simply fainted. It took at least twelve mintutes for her to come to. When she did, she quickly sewed the costume Cody needed. It was black except for the giant fireball on the the chest of the shirt. It also had a nice black mask to hide his identity. Cody nodded approvingly, "I think that's good enough." Cody said with a grin.
