Not A Screw To Find
…
A child’s innocence can be ripped away
by anything or anyone.
Damaged by misuse of trust
you’re born with when you’re young.
This young girl was filled with trust,
like any other infant,
but soon she learned her faith was wronged.
Her life was ruined in an instant.
…
Abuse from one’s own father
can screw a child’s mind,
but once she hit adolescence,
there was not a screw to find.
“My screws aren’t loose, they’re completely lost”,
that’s what she used to say
until she realised there was truth in this –
then the hate grew every day.
Hate that burned her insides
for every day she had endured
that bastard’s sick and twisted hell.
Her mind would never be cured.
…
Even when it ended
she never felt the way she ought.
She felt nothing but bitterness
and desire for what she sought.
Revenge was all she wanted;
justice for that creep.
She hated him with all she had –
forgetting was for the weak.
…
He took with him her innocence
and things she could never save,
and when he died she went to see,
and spat on his sorry grave.
But when she tried to walk away
she just sat down and cried.
She saw, as long as she was bitter,
she was holding him inside.
So she didn’t stop the tears;
she let her feelings flow.
She released all her pain and hate
so she could let him go.
