The town is cute and sweet and small

Nothing ever goes on at all

But in the darkness of the night everything changes

Make sure you have been warned of the dangers

Say goodbye to the light of day

Come, night time, come with dark and decay

For now the neighbours talk and watch TV

They close their curtains and then you see

The real town with only natural light

Things can come out in the dark of night

And up up up comes the sun

Dark

down

down

the day has begun

The normal routine starts over again

No-one’s afraid of mice nor men

And this is where our heroes meet

It is the darkness they long to defeat

They travel

down

down

into the night

And up up and into the light

Our heroes are normal folk of the town

With red rosy cheeks and no hint of a frown

The smile and dance and play and sing

And pretend they aren’t afraid of anything

But there in the darkness is their downfall

In the same place humpty dumpty fell off the wall

And shattered into pieces of shell

A not-so-pretty children’s story to tell

He went

down

down

and into the night

Never up up and into the light

He wasn’t afraid of mice nor men

But no one could put humpty together again
