Okay I know I do a horrible job of updating, or altogether, finishing a story lol. This story may put an end to that streak. I have worked my butt off to develop an actual background for my characters, but I still have no general idea where exactly I will go with this story. So with that said I will be open to any ideas you may have.

Now Enjoy!!

Lucky

Chapter 1: Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

‘Lili, you can do this.’ I know, I know this might sound childish but trust me I’m 18. And as far as the government is concerned am not a child. In fact, if you were to put me against my father, I’d probably beat him out on maturity level. I mean look at him weeping his eyes out, holding onto me for dear life. He reminds me of a child that hasn’t taken, nor does he want to take, a nap, if you ask me.

“Be good sweetheart.” He told me when he finally let go. “Ha, I should probably be saying the same to you.” I felt so bad for him. I was his baby girl, his only girl, after mom died; I had to make him smile somehow. And he did more than that. The deep, resonating sound of his laugh could be heard from around the corner. Some students even stopped to stare at us as they made their way. “Bye daddy.” I gave him one last hug and kiss before I made my way to my dorm room.

For the next for or so years, I will be sleeping, eating, and studying in Clarington Hall. Clarington Hall is located in the farthest back corner of hell. Not really, actually it’s located on the farthest possible section without trespassing onto the real estate division next door.

This is no over exaggeration. I have to cross the courtyard, pass the business school, that ironically, was my first class of the day; the arts school, the mess hall, the library, pass the football field to my final destination.

And my final destination wasn’t all that much to look at on the outside, and the inside wasn’t much different. There was a small area as soon as I walked in that I could only assume was the kitchen, though there was no oven nor stove, the microwave made it pretty obvious. Right across was the living area consisting only of a couch and coffee table. Which, now that I mention it, should not be called a coffee table seeing as how we are not allowed to have hot plates much less a coffee maker.

There was a narrow hallway directly in front of the door I had just walked into. On either side of the hallway where doors: one to my left and two to my right. My name was one the single door to my left.

I unlocked the door and walked into the smallest room ever. It really didn’t deserve to be called a room considering it was the same size as my closet. From the doorway, to my left, was my bed pushed against the wall, directly in front of me was a small window, and to my right was, what I can’t even believe they had the audacity to pull, the tiniest closet ever.

“Well, at least I’m not paying for all this.” Actually, I do pay for it. I paid for it during the four years of hell that my dad liked to call high school. But hey, I’d rather make straight A’s and do volunteer/ community service projects then be like those poor bastards that partied all the time, got mediocre grades, and are now having to pay over $15,000 a year to go to school.

Sighing I unloaded myself of my burden and preceded with the task of not making my room look like my home: bear, boring, and barren. Once I had finally had all of my things unpacked, I took on the task of decorating, which, by the way, is a really hard feat to attempt when you have no supplies.

My journey was slightly interrupted as I ran into someone. “Oh my goodness, I am so terribly sorry.” A very polite voice rang out from the floor. “I’m Lyric.” “Liliana.” I stated distractedly, not really looking at her as I helped her with finding her things. “So I guess we’re roommates.” I smiled and nodded. “ Listen I gotta go, but I’m sure we can get to know each other soon.” I hurriedly stated as I turned and walked across the campus and back to the car my dad left me. “Well, at least I can drive to my room now.”

“Alright class, be sure to read pages 782- 820 by our next class session. Miss Langston, can you stick around for a minute?” I just sat there quite stunned that, in a classroom with over 80 students, he knew my name. Especially considering I never say anything.

Once I had finally realized that that bell had rang and the classroom was empty, I then figured out that that was why Mr. Anderson was hovering over me. “You wanted to see me sir?” He smiled.

“Over the past two months, you have yet to socialize with any of the students in this classroom. You are introverted and the highest-ranking student I have had in years. So with that said, I am recommending you for an internship with Earthly Enterprises, in the marketing department.

“If chosen, you will work directly under Nickolas St. James, a former student of mine. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and even though you are not the most open person in the world, I truly believe you deserve this. That is all. Good Luck Liliana.”

I simply stared in awe. I couldn’t understand how in the world, if I am so introverted and non-social, would he nominate me. “I just don’t understand why you would pick me. I mean you said so yourself, I’m non-social.”

He smiled again, making me feel like, for the hundredth time today, that I am the village idiot. “Because you are the most determined and focused student I have ever met, and I know for a fact that you will not let Nickolas’… personae distract you.” I was still at a total loss and completely skeptical, but all I could do was nod dumbly, gather my things, and slowly walked out of the classroom.

If you have made it this far then congratulations are in order. You have now one the chance to review and possibly have your ideas featured in my story.

And for those of you who have read my other stories. Yes those will be updated eventually I just sometimes forget where I was gong with them lol.

Thanks again and please review!!!
