My Porcelain Mask

A porcelain doll

With a painted smile

Never failing

Never changing

Keeping up the facade

Day by day

Grab me by the neck

Throw me ‘cross the room

Break me in to a million little pieces

I won’t fail you

I promise I won’t cry

I’ll go unaffected

I promise, I swear

Not a tear will I shed

I won’t feel any pain

But the slightest breeze

The gentlest touch

And for no reason

I’ll shatter

You’ll see me

Face twisted in pain

No, don’t go that way

Not allowed

Must be strong

For you

I must handle it all

I’m not allowed to fall

‘Cause I have to be strong

For you

My porcelain face will shatter

Random pieces scatter

Stab me in the eye

I’ll cry

Bleeding tears down my face

Staining my pretty dress crimson

But I’ll hide the mess

Glue my porcelain back together

For the next day when I fall behind

My porcelain mask
