Alone
By: Amber Seguin

I feel it shadowing me everywhere I go
I hear its lonely voice turning my blood cold
My heart beats fast and lonely
And I scream, but only it hears me

So I am silent, and I wait
I wait for the engulfing fingers, and I shake
My mind’s eye is seeing horrors no man should ever see
And I’m tormented here, screaming silently

I can feel it pulsating in my ears
I know it is the essence of my fears
I feel it pumping through my veins
And it’s seething upwards and clawing at my brain

I ask myself a question before I kiss myself goodbye
Can a person’s life be measured by the tears shed when he dies?
But the answer to this puzzle no one will ever know
Because as I take my final gasp, I know I die alone
