FIRE

There’s beauty in your chaos, and danger in your game;

No one truly knows you, though many stake that claim.

Some say that you cannot think, while others swear you do;

Who can guess what they’ll say before the day is through?

Your heat can be felt for blocks, your scent caught on the air;

Even brave men wither beneath your angry glare.

The crackle of you voice wakes a primordial fear;

Yet you sing a sweet song, for those willing to hear.

Your appetite is quite insatiable, it would seem;

Your tongues turn worlds to ash, and waters into steam.

Some would call you unlovable, but that’s just not true;

We respect your power, so in a since, love you.

Though no one’s ever held you, in a lover’s sweet embrace;

You ignite a flame within--hold a special place.

You are nature’s way of taking, sometimes caused by man;

Yet what nature takes She gives, sometimes by your hand.

So I’ll say it one more time, though you are not tame;

There’s beauty in your chaos, and danger in your game.
