There was a burning under his fingernails. It arced across his head and trailed down his spine.
“People only do things ‘cause they have a reason to. Look at you. Wouldn’t talk to someone like me; Am I beneath you?”
He bent the wire holding her halo up and ripped the feathers from the sinewy bounds of her wings.
“You told me to go to hell right? This’s gotta be some kind of sacrilege, hey, angel cakes?”
Fingers fisted in gold and teeth bit into ivory. She pushed away his horns. She could remember him clearly, always watching her with lust. Touching her shadow like it caused him pleasure.
Freak.
He bit down harder. She could feel something rip and stretch away, like the thin wisps of fabric on the floor; the metal pushed deeper in her stomach. Clear-painted nails scratched at plastic horns and pushed away demented flesh.
Somewhere along the struggle he heard a break, her body limp.
He left the gun on the bible in the drawer, along with the tears he didn’t bother to carry anymore.
