lullaby

his voice sparkled like diamonds in midair when
it cracked and he sang to cover it up,
and the force of the sea-swells in his
fluid words put nearly too much pressure
on her heart, so she felt like she would burst
from being underwater for so long.

she
only spoke when she had to, because
when he was talking she could close her eyes
and his voice would paint dripping strokes across
her eyelids and she could fall into her dreams. his
voice rose and fell in a seascape of volumes and directions as she
paddled along the ocean he had spoken, she let the
gentle movement of his voicewaves rock her to sleep,
she fell asleep in his blue-green voice,
in his arms.
