By the time we were finally at the temple, it was night, or at least I thought it was. Once we entered, there were four thrones on top of a staircase. The walls were filled with drawings, and strange letters. There were no doors, nor windows.
“What’s with the thrones?” I asked him.
“There are four rulers of hell, each are princes.”
“Why are there four?”
“Because the king had four sons, all of them who weren’t related to each other, when one passed away, which is very rare, the next one would step in to become the ruler.” He explained.
“Who’s the ruler now?” I asked.
“I don’t know. But I know there are only two left.”
“What happened to the other two?”
“One died in a duel, and the other…well, he was my favorite, it’s a pity he had to die. He was poisoned with some sort of disease, which made his flesh burn from the inside out.” I quivered at the thought.
“What about the other-.”
“I think I know where the entrance is.” He said cutting me off, and ignoring my question. I followed him up the stone steps to where the thrones were. I noticed that each throne had a name written in some different language on it.
“Here.” He said. He started pushing one of the stone chairs, and surprisingly it moved, revealing a pitch black hole. What was strange, is that he almost knew what he was doing.
“I’ll go first if you want.” He said.
“Sure.” I said carelessly. I saw him jump in, not hesitating. I followed instantly, afraid to be alone. It was a long drop, but it felt even longer when I landed on my leg. I winced, getting up. There was two large stone doors with writing and paintings on it, but there was a huge picture of the man I saw in the alley.
“That’s him. That’s the guy I saw in the alley way.” I told Jace, keeping my eyes on the drawing. He didn’t answer.
“Jace...?” I turned around.
“‘Ello there.” An ugly purple Ork, was standing behind me. I tried to run, but he grabbed my arm, and held me back. All of a sudden, the room brightened up, and I was staring at four ugly Orks. I looked over and saw Jace standing by the door.
“Jace, help” I said, trying to get the Ork to release me.
“Sorry, Devon.” he said emotionless. I stared at him for a moment, shocked to what he said. When the Ork wasn’t paying attention, I snatched my arm away, and made a run for the huge stone door. When I got to it, I realized, that there was no way to open it.
“You can’t get in without this.” I heard Jace say from behind. I turned to see what he was talking about. He was holding up a small Ruby on a chain, which was very sharp at the end, I looked at the door, and saw a whole, I figured you had to stick the Ruby in the whole. Without warning, the wall blasted open near the Orks, and rocks went flying. Jace fell to the ground, and the chain slid from his hand. A dark figure picked it up. The smoke, and dust started to clear, and I finally got the image of who it was.
Angelica.
“Devon, catch!” she yelled to me. She threw it high into the air, when I was about to catch, an Ork jumped in front of me, pushed me back, and caught it. He snickered. I saw a ball of fire come towards him and hit him smack in the face. He stumbled back covering his face with his other hand. I saw he still held the necklace, so I grabbed it, and was about to put it in the whole…
I turned around and looked at Angelica, and Zuko.
“Go, don’t worry, we’ll keep ‘em busy.” she said. I smirked at her, and finally put the ruby in. The carved lines in the stone door, started glowing red, and it started to move. It only opened a few feet though. I pulled the key out, and ran in before it closed. When the door was completely shut, I looked up to see a huge statue of who I believed was Satan, the rest of the room, was plain and simple, no drawings, carvings, nothing. I walked closer to the statue, until I was about two yards away from it. Now what am I suppose to do? Talk to a statue?
“That’s only half the reason you are here.” I heard a voice say. The voice startled me, I looked around to see where it came from...maybe it was Satan? I looked at the statue, and an unwanted person walked from behind it. I wasn’t as surprising though, ‘cause at the back of my mind, I knew he was there...all along. He was always there.
“I’m surprised you’ve made it this far. After the fire, New York, hell, and now here.” he said leaning against the statue.
“Do you think this is some sort of game?!” I almost yelled.
“I wouldn’t call it a game…” he said walking closer. I walked back, taking a glimpse back at the door, thinking if I could be quick enough to shove the Ruby in the door and get my ass out of there! I looked back at him, reaching into my pocket searching around for the chain...it wasn’t there! I checked my other pocket...it was nowhere. I slowly lifted my head to look at the vampire who was holding up the chain in front of him.
“Don’t think you’ll get out of here this easy.” he said. Without thinking twice, I charged at him. I set my mind on tackling him, I lunged. Instead of ramming me in the stomach, or moving out of the way, he grabbed my throat and held me up in the air. My air supply was getting cut off, I grabbed his hand. I coughed a little. He threw me to the ground.
“You don’t want to play this game again.” he said. I was lying on my stomach grabbing my throat trying to catch my breath. I heard him kneel down beside me, then he grabbed my head and pushed it to the ground, putting all his weight on me, he slightly turned my head towards him.
“If you thought you were going to beat me this time...forget it.” he hissed. He got up, and stepped back. I got to my knees, about to stand up, but he kicked me in my ribs...
Angelica’s POV
“Zuko, I’m getting bad vibes about that room, I think Devon needs help.” I said, while blocking a blow from one of the Orks.
“Can’t she..ugh..handle..ergh...herrselff?” he said, fighting Jace. I knocked the third Ork out.
“Look, I’m gonna go in there and help, you keep Jace busy.” I said. I looked at the door and realized I needed that stupid Ruby to get in.
Devon’s POV
I looked up at the vampire, who pulled something out from behind his back...a small crossbow. I dragged myself away from him a little. He aimed it at me. I put my arm in front of me for defence, and he pulled the trigger...
“No...” I said, closing my eyes.
I waited… and waited. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes, and saw the arrow, frozen in midair, inches from my face. I looked around, and saw everything was frozen. I looked over to Satan’s Statue, which was glowing red, all of a sudden, the man who I saw in the alley way appeared.
“Hello Devon.” he said.
“S-Satan?” I asked unsure. He nodded.
“What’s happening, why is everything...frozen?” I asked, getting up.
“I’m going to give you one more chance, to change something.” he said.
“What?”
“You came here for help, I can help you, and I am, I’m telling you, you need to change something...a mistake.” he said. I didn’t say anything.
“Wait don’t go… I need to know what’s going on.”
“I’ll see you in time...”
Everything went white...
