Ever

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is to love and be loved in return."

The greatest love you'll ever see
Began one year ago with me.

The purest tears I've ever cried
Were on your bed, from joy that night.

The happiest you've ever been
Was in my arms that you slept in.

The day we cried, we said forever.
Between us would stand nothing. Ever.

Soon thereafter, you grew cold.
Consumed by all the truth untold.

I had no choice but to part,
Although I knew you'd have my heart.

Loving you made me the happiest I ever knew.
Leaving you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

first two lines are from "Unforgettable with Love" by Natalie Cole.
