Opposites Attract

Long time ago, in a faraway land there lived three princes. The three princes were very handsome but the eldest prince was so handsome that the sun itself, who had seen so much, was astonished by his beauty.

The other two princes were jealous of his beauty because the most beautiful girls in the kingdom always stared and flirted with the eldest. The eldest was ignorant at the art of flirtation, ignored them. He didn’t like the most beautiful girls in the kingdom because they were so stuck-up. Instead, he likes the ugliest girl in the kingdom named Rose, who was kind-hearted and not so stuck-up. Everybody thought the eldest prince was weird because he liked the ugliest girl in the kingdom.

Months passed the more the prince watched Rose, the more he liked her. It wasn’t long until he was in love with her. The most beautiful girls in the kingdom gave up and married the other two princes, flirting a little with the eldest, who left them standing there in the hallway.

One day the eldest asked for Rose’s hand in marriage. Rose said no and cried. The eldest asked her what was wrong. “Well, look at me. I’m so ugly, look at my burnt face. I used to be beautiful. As beautiful as you until a household fairy cursed my parents because they didn’t thank her for all the work she’s done. She said the curse is after she leaves I will make a fire so that I can cook dinner. I would light it close to my face and burn my face. That’s what happened. Why do you love me; since I’m so ugly?” Rose asked.

The eldest replied, “I don’t care if you’re ugly or not. You are beautiful in the inside than the outside that’s why I love you so much.” “If that’s why you love me then by all means let us marry,” Rose said.

They married. The other two princes and their wives were laughing that the eldest was married to the ugliest girl in the kingdom. When the prince and rose kissed, Rose’s burnt face became astonishing beautiful. Everyone was so amazed by this surprising sight that they closed and rubbed their eyes and opened them up again, but they could still see Rose’s beauty. “My curse is broken!” Rose cried. They were so happy that they danced until dawn.

The prince and Rose soon lived happily ever after. The other two princes wanted Rose and their wives wanted the eldest prince that they were so unhappy for the rest of their lives.
