Chapter 1
Oh so you think it would be just perfect for two guys to fall in love with you and ask you out on the same day at almost the same time. I mean what girl wouldn’t love to be loved buy more than one guy at once. Well it happened to me, strange enough. Lucky right, no it sucked. It is hard to choose and it makes your head hurt. Oh yeah so you think I’m all pretty and popular and everyone loves me. Wrong again Einstien. I’m just some random girl, with a normal name, Alexis. I have dark brown eyes, DARK brown hair, wear glasses and have on a little extra weight. Please don’t picture me as some extra large woman, I’m not. I only weight 133, I don’t even have rolls. That’s not the point the, point is that at this particular moment I’m hiding from the two guys who want to go out with me and it’s not pretty. Let me explain.
Two Days Ago…
The weekend was finally here and I was ready to have the house to myself. Yeah sitting at home with hours and hours on my hands. I could do anything. The truth was that I was going to hate that weekend home alone. I didn’t want to sit at the computer all day……..or did I. Anyway I was walking sadly to my locker. The only reason I was sad was because I knew my best friend wasn’t here to ride the bus and walk half way home with me. It’s not like I depend on her it just I don’t like change…that much. I grabbed my coat and but some useless crap in my locker. I turned my head slightly before closing my locker and saw Dylan walking in the empty hallway. The first thin I did was sigh slightly but then it struck me. What the hell is Dylan doing here after school hours? I quickly shut my locker and sped to catch up to him.
“Hey Dylan.” I quietly called after him. He stopped and turned his head. I couldn’t help but almost stare at his magnificent blue eyes. Even though he was only a few inches taller than me he was still cute as what. It wasn’t his punk style that got me, ok maybe it was, it was those eyes and his attitude. I was mad when I found out that black hair of his wasn’t natural. Why did her have to be a blond. Anyhow, back to what I was saying.
“What are you doing after school?” I asked.
“I had to take a test for auto.” We started walking
“Oh, I had to stay after with this dog.”
“oh.” It kind of upset me how he never had anything else to say. Kind of like my friend Ryan but he was a while another topic. I was never one to just stay quiet when I wanted something so I asked.
“Why don’t say much to me?” he smiled with some teeth when looked at me. It made me want to smile but I kept my calm look.
“I don’t know.” he looked straight again
“Whatever.” There was a short pause as we walked through the school out to the front. Unfortunately and fortunately it was dark. “Hey since you smoke would you mind telling you how it started.”
“My friend asked me and I said sure.” She took out his phone and looked at it. I took off my book bag and put on my coat. I hated the cold and no sun was making it worse.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“5:05.” He responded. I made a note of that and just looked around the parking lot. I glanced at Dylan out the corner of my eye then grabbed my ipod out the side pocket of my kaki cargo pants. I sat on the cold hard concrete curb, plugged the earphones in my ears and turned on Hang Em’ High by My Chemical Romance. Exactly 1:47 into the song I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I looked up and saw Dylan looking down at me. I paused the song unwillingly because it was my favorite but willingly because it was Dylan of course.
“Yeah.”
“What are you listening to?” he asked.
“My chemical romance. You wana listen?”
“sure.” He sat nest to me on the curb. It was so exiting for me. My heart beat increased by a bit but I acted like it happened everyday. Yeah like having one of the two boys your crushing on listen to your ipod with you was an everyday normal thing. I gave him one of the ear phones and restarted the song.
After I got over the fact that I was sharing my ipod I realized we were the only ones here. It sort of creped my out but then again I didn’t really want someone else claming his attention or someone claiming mine. I saw a teacher com out of the main entrance and go to their car. It was a crap car and I figured it was some old teacher.
About 5 teachers latter, no fucking bus, 7 songs later and numbing toes it came to mi realization that there was no bus coming. I kept my cool though I had to if I wanted to stay on Dylan’s good side. Not to say that I was ever on his bad side.
“I don’t think the bus is coming.” I simply said.
“Me either.”
“My toes have lost all feeling so I’m going to go inside.” I said stopping the music. Dylan pulled the earphone out and handed it to me.
“Yeah I’m cold myself.”
“You should be you’re only wearing that hoodie. You better be glad Sandina isn’t here.” He chuckled. I loved making him laugh. It made his eyes even more marvelous. We stood up and walked inside. We were welcomed by a warm blast of air. It made me smile. I took out my phone and checked the time. 6:03. I started to worry on the inside but stayed calm on the outside. My phone started to vibrate. It was my mom, I answered it.
“WHERE ARE YOU?” she shouted. I pulled the phone away from my ear. Obviously she was so loud that Dylan heard her because he looked over at me.
“I’m at school.” I said walking around slowly.
Why?
“The bus didn’t and probably isn’t going to come.”
I’ll be there………oh no.
“What?”
My car is smoking. Fuck, I’ll be there soon. She hung up before I could say anything. I shoved the phone in my pocket and sighed loudly.
“What?” Dylan asked I wasn’t really expecting him to ask.
“My mom she’s being herself…annoying.”
“That’s why I’m waiting until she calls me too. My mom is strict but my dad is even stricter.”
“Wow my mom is strict too but I can get away with some stuff.”
“No me.” there was a shot pause. I couldn’t just have all this emotion bottled up inside me so I made up an excuse. I am very good with them I might add.
“Can you watch just incase a bus does come so I can go to my locker.”
“sure.” I walked as fast as I could to my locker then slumped down in the corner and pulled out my cell phone. I dialed Sandina and hand Hailee.
“You guys guess what!” I said excitedly
What. They said unenthused
“I’m stuck at school until my mom comes.”
Why are you excited?
“Because I’m stuck here with Dylan.” I squealed
DYLAN? the both said
What is he doing there? Sandina asked
“He had a test after school in his career.”
Mmm you get em’ gurl. Hailee said
“Shut up. I’m actually having a conversation with him.” I sighed lightly
“Really have you talked about?” Sandina asked
“Well nothing really just how he started smoking and his family a bit and uh I guess that’s about it. We listened to my Ipod.”
“You better hope they don’t kick you off the property.” Sandina said
“I haven’t even seen an adult it’s been like 30 minutes since I’ve seen one.” I rolled my eyes
Oh wow. I felt like something or someone was there I was praying it wasn’t an adult. I looked up and gasped.
What?
“Alexis what are you doing here?” I asked. Yes there is another person named Alexis and it is a boy. He was tall. Taller than me and Dylan. He was Porter Rican and had the nicest softest hair ever. I was glad her kept it short. Now he might not have the gorgeous eyes like Dylan but he was cure as hell.
Alexis is there?
Man that’s perfect.
“You guys I got to go.”
No I want to hear the conversation.
“I’ll tell you later, bye.” I hung up and slit the phone into my cargo pocket. I stood up and straightened everything out on my body.
“Hey Alexis.” Alexis said. It is yet still a little strange saying his name since it’s the same.
“Hi.” I said putting my hands in my coat pocket. I started walking back to where Dylan was.
“What are you doing here?”
“I had to work with some extra dogs. What are you doing here?”
“I’m always here I work at the office near wawa.” He put his arm around me. Usual he would put it on my shoulder her but this was much better. It’s obvious that I like him.
“Cool.” Yes we have a wawa in school it’s not that big of a deal. I saw Dylan walking up to us.
“Is a bus here?”
“No, some old man said to come get you so we can get out the building. He’s setting the alarm.” Dylan had a bored depressing look on his face. I had never seen it. It made me wan to ask what was wrong. I removed Alexis’s arm from around me and walked towards an exit. Dylan and Alexis were right beside me with no conversation between them.
“So Alexis, Kate asked me something after math.” My body froze.
“I don’t want to talk about that right now.” I blurted out. I walked faster and tried to push my way through a double door. Locked.
“Ok fine.” We walked to the front entrance near the lockers. The door that led to the ‘waiting room’ was locked.
“What the fuck!” I mumbled under my breath. I turned and looked at Dylan and Alexis.
“If I think what I think happened I could get us some help.” Alexis said
“What re you thinking.” Dylan asked lowly.
“We’re locked in the school.” He simply said
“Don’t say that.” I whined. I saw the lights start to shut off one by one down the hallways. “What the fuck.” I said. Dylan and Alexis looked back.
“Run!” Alexis shouted. With out any question Dylan and I fallowed Alexis. It was really hard for me to run with my book bag on. I also did want to be seen running like a fool but I had to. Because when some one says to run I run, especially since I’m black. No offence. We ran past the auditorium and the library door. Once we past the wawa I knew I was going to need my inhaler soon. I was starting to wheeze. We finally reached the office door. I was praying that they were open. Alexis flung the door open as Dylan and I slowed down. I smile tiredly. We ran in.
