We are…

We are something infinitely indescribable.

Living in the gaps between the stars,

Licking all the numbers off the clocks.

We are illegal

(In a frothy, smiley, fizzy kind of way),

And we are dirty

(In the cleanest way we know how).

We are the flick of Fate’s hair,

Swept up in garish rainbows of promise.

We are twisted bed sheets.

Are we endangered?

There’s something in that sleepy smile,

Streaks of boredom glued along your tongue

As thick as lies.

We are waiting

(For what?

Some epiphany of puppet strings to pull us together).

You are chewing misunderstanding

Deeper into those lips (already raw with violent passion).

We are the sand in the hour glass,

We are the footsteps against the tide.

You look confused.

Oh,

Why am I even trying?
