This is for a project at school about the Romantic Period of American Literature. We had to write something that looked like it could've come from the Romantic Period. I know it's not that great, but it's about nature, so I guess it works. Well, technically it's about rain, but rain's nature, so whatever.
The sound the drops made
Wasn’t loud at all
It echoed through the sunless
Day unheard by anyone but the trees
With the drops came
A soft howl from the sky
The music blew quietly
Around the rain
The chilled wind swept
Around the trees
Embracing with cold,
Numbing with passion
A white atmosphere
Slowly dimmed to darkness;
The soft tears of the sky
Remained to still the night
