I'm a metaphor
A metaphor is a lie
And I am a lie

People stared at me today
As I lied inside their books.
At times I'm cleaver
As I pass by most people.
Sometimes they catch on.

Their eyes glaze right over me.
They don't notice. I'm so smart.
Though when they find me
They feel as bright as I do
But forget very soon.

I'm rain in the night
Pouring at a fitting time
Like after a fight.
I enjoy setting the mood.
I am very convenient.

I'm a small blue bird
Hinting the end of a storm
Chirping to please all.
While everything else has died
I apparently made it.

I am a dark cloud
Looming on the horizon.
It is depressing
Because it's a sad story
And a very good technique.

A subversive frog
That will come out for the rain
Signals uniqueness.
You may not understand me
Don't worry, neither do I.

I'm a word or phrase
Symbolizing something else.
Something different,
Something that is much like me
Though it's different.

That's a metaphor.
A metaphor is a lie
But I'm a simile.
