Dependency. To rely, especially for support.

Is is wrong to depend on anyone besides yourself? And if it’s ok to depend on someone then to what extent is it healthy? Who can you depend on?

I’ve very seldomly met anyone who doesn’t depend on someone else emotionally. It’s not something we like to admit, but we very much need other people to support us and make us feel better. And what is it about admiting that we need other people that we don’t like? Probably, because we come out as weak, like we can’t handle things by ourselves.

Someone once told me that we shouldn’t depend on other people to be happy, or give other people our happiness. Instead we should share our happiness with others, so that if they fail to provide said happiness then we still hold a part of that happiness and all is not lost.

Do we choose who we depend on? Do we even choose if we depend on them? I think it’s only human to need support to get you through the hard times. The thing is what happens when the person that helps you, can’t be there, what do you do then? You have put yourself in a horrible place.

When you completely depend on someone you lose a big amount of self control over yourself. Now, the things that you use to be able to handle by yourself don’t exist. You need this someone or something. Sometimes you lose part of your identity in the process, to the point that you might feel that without it you might seize to exist.
