Inspired by what I overhead a person said. :)

Please do review and I'll return the favour.

(And can someone please tell me how to have breaks when uploading poems? I've added breaks but they disappear each time...)

Abandonment

Standing at the doorway to Heaven

The Light beckons, calling me

Rapture!

But the gates shut when I step

before it; a creature of light

stands behind the pearly gates

within the confines of Heaven

Blankness painted its face

Emotions didn’t show.

Then I sort of knew

What was inevitable.

“Your heart’s been closed-

You can no longer accept the light of God

Go, thou arth not welcomed in.

Thou belongst amongst the Forsaken.

Go.”

With that the gates vanished before me

But not before it lit the shadows behind.

I see a million smiles; welcoming me within their folds.

“Come, join us, brethren,”

It’s been an eternity since I’ve stood amongst the lost souls

And all of us are still waiting in the shadows

Biding our time before we get a second chance

If it ever comes at all.
