Ah, are you prepared to venture into a piece produced by my ramblings? Okay… it’s mostly not ramble… I think. To tell you the truth I can’t tell. . I hope I produced a nice enough work to keep your attention, though I think I will update this even if reviews are lagging. Well, wish me good luck and I will do the same for you!

Warning: Though first chapter doesn’t show it (I’m assuming) same sex confrontations are most likely to come in later chapters.

Chapter One

Mathew Heartfelt Discovers a Mild Form of Courage:

I love you. I love you. I love you. Go tell her Matt. I love you. Is that so hard? The answer was yes. Mathew’s heart raced as his mind refused to stay focused on Mr. Harding’s lecture, no, his brain was only concerned with the way Anna Luker’s long brown hair flowed ever so softly on to her back. So beautiful. Matt’s thoughts pinedbut he had to quit his staring fit. This class may hold his future, so it would be in his best interest to stay concentrated on the teacher and not on the girl two rows down.

“And though Plato discussed knowledge as being the combination of truth and belief and never only one of either, one must also take into context of where each component…”

Mathew lost concentration on the professor as once again his thoughts turned back upon Anna’s beauty. He couldn’t help it; he was under the control of his hormones. He had never known the embrace of love, but every time the brown haired beauty came into focus he could have sworn he was only a breath away from understanding the meaning of true love.

“Hey. Psst.” A voice cracked in through Mathew’s rose scented thoughts. “Hey. Hey, Heart.”

Mathew turned to face the speaker. It was Cameron, Anna’s brother, sitting right behind him in the last row. Anna’s twin brother. They looked exactly like each other, Cameron being the masculine version though, and his hair only reached to his chin. They both had nice fair skin, slim well-built figures, and vibrant green eyes. In high school they had been the pair teenagers dreamed of one day dating. Though in high school Anna only had a couple of dates through out the years, while her brother had been a major playboy.

Of course, Mathew had been jealous of Cameron’s grand ability to woo the opposite sex, but only a little bit. Though this young college student’s figure did deeply contrast against that of Anna Lukerman’s brother, Matt felt that his looks were plenty enough to get by in his career life and really wasn’t that enough? Matthew skin was darkly toned, received from his Puerto Rican mom’s side, and his hair was deeply black. His eyes were brown and his figure was lanky, a form Matt had hoped to outgrow by his college years.

“Hey Heart, I’m calling you.” Cameron whispered.

“My name’s not Heart.” Matt replied quietly.

“Your name is not Mathew Heartfelt?” Cameron asked with a smile.

Ah yes, Matt’s last name. Didn’t really give him trouble in high school, though in middle school it had been a different story. Matt sighed.

“Right, Matt Heartfelt, that’s my name.” Mathew tried to put emphasize on the Matt part. People seemed to never call him by this, they always insisted on the formals: Mathew, Heartfelt, or Mr. Heartfelt. Never Matt.

“So, don’t I got reason behind me calling you Heart? Eh?”

Mathew sighed again. “Okay, go ahead then.”

“All right.” Cameron leaned in. “I’ve been watching you all class period.”

Matt’s eyes slightly widened as he began to edge away from the other boy.

“No, no, no, not like that,” Cameron chuckled, “It’s just that I noticed you being constantly glued to my sister.”

“Oh,” Warmth began to spread through out the lanky boy’s face. He hadn’t realized how noticeable he had been.

“Um, heh,” Another chuckle passed through Cameron’s lips. “You weren’t undressing her with your eyes, were you?”

“No.” This time Matt squeaked and reddened even more. “No. No. No, I would never- I would- I just couldn’t…” Matt paused as he tried to overcome his stumble of words. “I’m just not that kind of man.”

“Hey, no need to raise your voice. You don’t want the professor to hear you, do you?”

“No. Sorry.”

“Yeah, well I was just messing with you. You know? Anyways, it’s quite normal for a chum like you to want to see a woman naked. Eh?” Cameron winked. “Anyways, the only reason I’m bugging you here is to nudge you into asking my sister out.”

“What?” This time the boy stuttered.

“Well, you seem to like her, as you’ve been staring at her all this time. Unless you actually root for the other team and had only been admiring how she styles her hair.”

“No,” Matt replied quickly, “I do like her, it’s just that-“

“Well,” Cameron cut the nervous college student off, “If you like her then you should ask her out. I’m her brother, trust me on this, the outcome will be delicious.”

With one more wink and a smile Cameron leaned back in his seat and Matt turned back to face the front of the classroom.

“…and with this in mind I would like you to write a thesis explaining your own views in contrast or comparison against these variables and themes. I should expect a paper no less than one and no more than twenty by the end of next week. Good day class.”

Mathew’s eyes widened as he came upon the realization of how much of Mr. Harding’s lecture he had missed. He looked down upon his notebook, only a page half filled with notes, and as he read the sentences he found that he was only receiving gibberish. Well, if this was the only outcome of today’s class Matt was sure that by the end of this week he would somehow explode. Quickly he leaped up from his seat, peered down upon Anna packing up her laptop and called out in the loudest voice he has ever produced.

“Anna!” Matt quickly threw his journal into his book bag and rushed down the steps to Anna. It was only by the grace of god he didn’t trip down the steep staircase, as he was usual to do.

“Oh, hey Mathew.” Anna softly greeted him as she slipped her backpack on.

“Uh… uhm. Hi.” What was he going to say again. For some reason a picture of a dried up fruit keeps popping into my head. What is that? D-d- “Date?”

“What was that?”

“Dates, nasty fruits.”

“Yeah,” Anna nodded with a smile as she began to turn for the steps. “Well, nice seeing you Mathew.”

“Oh,” Matt jumped as he realized his chance was escaping, “wait Anna.”

“Yes?”

“Could- would you mind getting together later on tonight?” Matt cleared his throat. “I j-just need help on the assignment, and I remembered how well you always did in our English class, and I was hoping that you could give me a hand. Eh…” Matt felt his face redden again. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to, I probably could find someone else.”

Matt felt his insides collapse when he heard a soft chuckle, but then…

“Of course I won’t mind Mathew. Just come by my room around seven. My room is in the right wing of the girl’s dorms, B6.”

“Thank you!” This time Matt laughed. His heart raced with eagerness and excitement. “See you then, then.”

“Yeah, bye.“ Anna gave a small wave then continued on up the stairs.

“Bye.” Well, it’s not an actual date… But nonetheless Mathew felt assured of coming one step closer to a most wonderful life.

Whoa, first chapter is done! Huzzah, though nothing really hasn’t happened… besides our dear boy discovering a bit of courage and maybe love? Well, the fantasy part has yet to begin, but don’t worry… something fantastical is certain to come in the next chapter. Don’t be afraid to review, I don’t care how simple they are… even a word would do.
