Finale

Amusing that one look holds one thousand words
As quick joy and guilt in a crazed mind take turns.
Concern will not heal a lonely heart broken
Or speed up tense thoughts in a world of slow motion.
Understand an opinion has no substance here.
Perhaps a friend cares more of what is adhered.
The look one may give would freeze nerves inside.
With an awkward smile far too loud to hide.
And a rushed goodbye, a run to the bathroom,
A crawl to the toilet soon smothered in puke.
Now avoiding the urge to feel love every day.
Pretending that this is a new game we play.
But this is the end. The final goodbye.
Yesterday was the first day this year I didn't cry.
So for every good mem'ry, a sad one I'll recall,
To keep my broken heart from another downfall.
My mind may be distorted; my stomach abused,
Yet somehow, you became the one with some screws loose.
But don't worry. I took my last pill today.
I'm slowly, but surely, becoming more brave.
I'm seeing my future. It's without you.
Leaving this in the past is what we need to do.
My love, I'm sorry, but this one's for you.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
We're through.
