A dull ache descends upon my heart
Every time you’re in the room –
A feeling I’ve learned to control
Over the last four long years –
But an ache nonetheless
And a selfish one at that
I love the feeling of your arms around me
Your chin resting on top of my head
Hugging me like we’ve always been just friends
All you have to do is look in my eyes
And I know you’ll be on to me
Searching my soul as I think
And wish and hope and dream
For those back-in-the-days
When we could be seen in public together
Without causing another Holocaust;
Yearning for the days when I was your true love
And you were the one writing poems about me
