Hey everybody, this is just a little something I wrote in the summer but never really got around to posting it so I thought I might see what the public response was, I greatly value anyones opinion. Anyways thank you very much for taking interest in my story!

Touya Motama was a dark haired American walking around the streets of Kyoto in awe. He was lost but didn’t care, Japan was so different than what he was used to seeing. He was at the homeland of his grandfather who had immigrated to America as a boy, so Touya was one forth Japanese. His enthusiasm didn’t last though, he looked back down at the directions his cousin Neil had sent him; it was an address. Too bad he couldn’t read a word of Japanese. Neil had moved to Japan a couple of years ago. He was about ten years older than Touya who was still sixteen. He had sent Touya a letter offering to come live with him. Neil had written that he found a good job for him where he worked. To Touya it sounded really cool, after some persuading his parents gave in and allowed it. He had never been that popular with others in America and hoped to start fresh.

‘Jeez Neil! You could of like came to meet me or had given me actual directions. Anything would have been better than these chicken scratches’ Touya thought to himself

“So you know where to go yet?” Chris asked. Chris was Touya’s long time friend, he was a year older than him and when he heard about the trip he just had to go along. Unlike Touya he was all American.

“Yeah right like I can read all these signs.” Touya said sarcastically, “So why exactly did you come with me? You never took me as someone interested in Eastern cultures.”

“I’m not interested in the culture, I’m interested in the women! Japanese girls in cocktail dresses, school uniforms, and maid outfits! How could I resist. Plus I hear Japanese girls are attracted to American guys! ” Chris exclaimed happily

A sweat drop formed on Touya’s head as he asked, “Where’d you hear that from?”

“Neil.” Chris answered

“Of course.” Touya said sarcastically

“You might as well get me a diamond cane and a purple suit cause I’m gonna be a pimp!” Chris yelled out

“Please, with that attitude.” Touya said

“Hey, back in the U.S. how many girlfriends did I have? Several! You? Zip!” Chris taunted

“Yeah yeah, you don’t have to boast. Another thing how did you convince your Mom let you come in the first place?” Touya asked

“Simple, I didn’t tell her!” Chris said with a smirk

“Dude, you are a freaking genius!” Touya exclaimed with wide eyes

“Is that more sarcasm?” Chris asked

“Yep.” Touya said with smirk

“Hey look, isn’t that Neil?” Said Chris pointing to a young man sweeping the sidewalk in front of a large traditional Japanese building.

“I think you’re right. Hey Neil!” Touya called out

The man looked up and replied, “Hey there you are. I was beginning to think I’d have to come get you.”

“It would’ve helped.” Chris commented

“So what exactly is this great job you told me about?” asked Touya

“C’mon inside and I’ll tell you guys all about it.” Neil said as he led them inside the large building

“Wow this place is big enough to be a mansion or something.” Touya commented looking up at the large place

“You don’t know the half of it.” Neil replied.

Once inside Neil said, “This place is the finest inn in all of Kyoto. Owned by the Harunaga family, they own the inn and 100 square acres around it.”

“That’s great so uh where’s the place we’ll be working?” Chris asked

“This is it.” Neil said

“What!” Chris exclaimed

“The great job you mentioned was working in an inn? I thought you meant like an actual career or something that we could support ourselves on! Not a bellhop!” Touya said disappointed

“Hey c’mon guys, it isn’t too bad. They let you live here! All your needs to live are provided.” Neil said enthusiastically

“You’re talking about being servants man!” Chris groaned

“And there’s one thing I don’t get.” Touya said

“What’s that?” Neil asked

“Why the hell are all the women working here dressed like French Maids!?” Touya exclaimed annoyed, “Shouldn’t they be wearing kimonos or at least something well, more?”

“Why are you complaining about that you idiot? That is probably the only good part about this place!” Chris said with a big grin

“About that well,” Neil began with a smirk, “You see the grandfather of the Harunaga is in charge of that kind of stuff and the thing is. He has this fetish for maids!”

“OH MY GOD!” Touya exclaimed

“Hell yeah!” Chris yelled out

“But Neil, how can we work in a Japanese inn when neither of us know any Japanese?” Touya asked

“Don’t worry about that, most of the people here speak English and I can teach you guys enough to get by. Here are your contracts, just sign your names at the bottoms and I’ll take these to the manager.” Neil said placing two packets in front of them.

“So Neil, does this place have an outdoor bath?” Chris asked

“Of course, one of our main attractions is the all natural outdoor hot spring baths.” Neil said

“Oh man, this place just keeps getting better and better!” Chris said as he scribbled his name on to his contract

“You sure have changed your tune.” Touya said, ‘you pervert’

“If the boss likes Maids then I think I’m gonna like being here!” Chris said happily as he watched one of the girls walk by followed by his eyes

“He came here for the girls didn’t he?” Neil asked in a dull voice

Touya nodded, “Yeah.”

“Figures.” Neil said

Touya let out a sigh and said, “I guess I have no choice.” Then signed the paper

“Don’t worry Cousin, I’m sure by the end of the day you will find something you like here. Oh by the way you two, There’s a large house about a hundred yards behind the inn. That’s Harunaga mansion, don’t go snooping around there unless called on.” Neil warned

“Gotcha.” Touya and Chris said

“Good, now follow me and I’ll show you guys to our room, you both are bunking with me.” Neil told them as he showed them around the elegant inn.

As they began to unpack Touya asked, “So Neil, about how many people can be staying here at one time?”

“hmm, I’d say about forty at the most.” Neil said

“Seriously? Most hotels back in the states can hold two hundred.” Touya said surprised

“There’s no way that’s all! From what I’ve seen you guys must have at least twenty-five staff members. You can’t tell me it takes that many people to run this place if that’s as few guests you guys get.” Chris said in disbelief

“I’m telling you guys the truth. I told you both that this is the finest inn of Kyoto; we clean this place thoroughly everyday and make sure everyone staying here has the best time they can have. That’s why unlike hotels in America we have such a large staff for that many guests.” Neil explained

“Quality over quantity, Japan really is different from the U.S.” Touya said, enjoying the idea.

“You got it, here in Japan, presentation is very important. We need that many people to keep the grounds, the outside of the inn, and the inside all looking their best. At the same time being able to attend to any of our guests needs.

Once they were unpacked and ready for the next day Touya and Chris went their separate ways to explore. Touya was amazed. The inn was luxurious but not in the same way as an American hotel. The inn had at one time been a very large traditional Japanese house, Touya figured. It must have been renovated within the last ten years or so since it had electric lights and all the other modern utilities. Touya was so caught up in the new sights and sounds around him that he didn’t notice the time flying by. Before he knew what happened it was eleven at night and decided to head back to the room.

‘Maybe I should take a quick bath in that outdoor hot spring Neil mentioned, I don’t think anyone would be there by now’ Touya thought as he walked down the halls. He was about to turn a corner when suddenly something ran straight in to him so fast that it knocked him flat on his butt. Touya felt a little dizzy but soon shook it off.

“Ouch, that really hurt.” Said a quiet little voice

Touya looked up to see a young girl about his age on the floor. She wore a blue maids outfit with a small white apron and white stockings that ran up to her thighs. She had long black hair and soft green eyes. She had been holding one of the wooden buckets from the bath with a cloth, soap, and other cleaning substances. She dropped it after they hit each other. After a moment she looked up at Touya and her eyes widened.

“Oh no! I-I’m so sorry.” She said as she began to pick up everything she dropped. Touya got on his hands and knees and began to help her.

“Wow, you speak English, and I’m the one who’s sorry.” Touya said as he handed her things to her

The girl looked around on the floor then began to worry and looked and felt around the floor, “Where is it! Where’d it go?”

Touya looked down next to him and saw an old style Japanese hairpiece with a fake white flower on it. Touya picked up the ornament, held it out to her, and asked, “Is this what you’re looking for?”

“Yes! Oh thank you so much!” She said smiling as she took it from him. She turned to look down the hallway she came from and her look of joy turned in to a look of horror. She immediately tried to stand up and run at the same time so fast she slipped on the smooth floor and fell directly on top of Touya. They both looked at each other in the eye and blushed.

“I’m sorry I’m such a klutz!” She said quickly then sprinted past him.

Touya just laid there on the floor as his eyes followed her until she went down another hallway, ‘who was that girl? She’s unbelievable. Cute too.’

“HEY! GET OUT OF MY DAMN WAY!” Touya looked up to see a man in his mid thirties. His speech was slurred, obviously drunk. “I SAID MOVE!” The man yelled as he kicked Touya hard in the stomach sending him in to the sidewall and walked past.

‘Well excuse me you drunkard!’ thought as he felt a throbbing in his stomach. He got up and continued on his way deciding to skip the bath and go back to the room.

“Hey there, where you been?” Neil asked as Touya entered the room

“Nowhere in particular. I did meet some mean drunk though.” Touya answered, as he got ready for bed.

“Really, that was probably Mr. Inochi. Our boss!” Neil informed them

“You’re kidding! A guy like that is our boss!” Touya exclaimed

“Yeah, he’s the head supervisor of the staff and just to give you the heads up, he’s always mean especially when he’s had too much sake.”

“Oh guys this place is so awesome! The girls are so hot! The only thing bad is the bath isn’t co-ed!” Chris said

“Heh, sounds like Chris is already enjoying himself! How about you Touya, did you find something you like about the inn?” Neil asked as they all climbed in to their futons.

Touya thought about it for a moment, ‘….that girl. Not something, more like someone.’ He blushed slightly and said “Yeah, I think I did.”

“That’s good.” Neil said with a yawn and turned out the light

‘That girl, who was she? And why was she in such a hurry, she looked really scared for some reason? Also what was with that old drunk?’ Touya thought as he began to fall asleep.

So what did everyone think? Good, bad, or just plain bizzare? And if anyone has any ideas for a title please I need some suggestions! I've been trying to think of a name since I wrote it back in the summer!
