Rendezvous

...by: lex...

Life is not a simple path from youth to age

Life is not to be discarded like worn out blanket

or destroyed as if it were a unfinished poem

Life is a journey, a voyage, a rendezvous

with hardship, enlightenment, sorrow and joy

Some travelers ride alone, fearing connection

or dreading inhibition

Others cling to companions and loved ones

to guide them along

Each voyager starting with their own set of

resources and skills

All gathering different lessons and sentiments

as they move along

Some are frightened and venture cautiously

Others clear the road with their excess pride,

bavery, vainity

But in the end none can escape the sorrow

Only the wise allow themselves to experience

the joys

All live until their journey reaches its end

An end with the finality of the page of a beloved

book

Some journeys are cut short

Whether by self affliction, fate or tragic loss

and horror

Many die with regret clenching their lethargically

pulsing hearts

Those who live lives with love, die with a different

passion

They have left their mark upon the world

Always remembered, never forgotten

Like the line of a poem that touches the soul

and envelopes the heart

For this is the life desired, the journey admired

and the rendezvous that never truly ends
