that smile,
thick as the cold beneath
us &
yet melted all away—
snowfalls of defrost
and long nights of
laughter
bodies warm like stockings
and soft thoughts by the fire
(‘cause we feel in this heart,
the desire)

that smile,
gently by the sky;
perfect questions—such
utopia demise of broken rain &
subway trains, but I
don’t need a sunrise to melt
my frost away
and only need that smile
to breathe another
day.
