Chapter 1

False Alarm

The night rolled in rather slowly one summer evening in Eclypse City within a small place named Slaughter town. The wind blew with such fury and rain gushed from the grey and black clouds like Niagara Falls. Thunder rumbled like purring tiger in the heavens of the night. Tears of the rain flooded each and every street of the small town.

Some streets were wide and the others were narrow; followed by houses surrounded everywhere each of those houses had their unique and eerie look and style. There was a road that leads from one curvy street to a narrow straight one and it led to a hill. Upon that hill was a medieval looking mansion with a Victorian flare of style that adorned it, it almost looked like a castle way back in the Dark Ages.

Inside that castle house as you go up the spiral steps the very first door belongs to two children. Dante and his little sister, Resureyu asleep peacefully in their beds within the dark room. Lightening lit up the room furiously while flickering in front of the small girl’s face disturbing her from sleep; getting up from her toddler sized bed, she tottered groggily over to the window to pull down the shades. The shades were pulled down and after doing so she walked back to her bed, trying so hard not to wake up her brother.

Dante opened his eyes as he awoke from hearing her go back into her bed he thought that the storm was scaring her; quickly, he got up and went to her bedside.

“Hey little sister, you okay?” he asked her while stroking her bangs out of her silver-blue eyes. Resureyu nodded, she was only three-years-old and it was so easy to scare a young child, “You’re not scared, are you?” he questioned her once more.

Again, she nodded her head and rolled over to go back to her slumber, “Just be quiet, okay? We don’t want to wake up Mom and Dad,” Dante said with slight fear in his voice.

A bang was heard on their bedroom door. Dante jumped startled, “W-who’s there?” the boy asked. The door opened slowly with an eerie creek and two shadowy figures appeared shortly after at the door. Miyaku and Belial, their parents.

“Mom, Dad?” Dante blinked as they revealed themselves to their offspring and stepped closer. “Just making sure you and Resureyu are alright,” said Miyaku, their mother said gently. “And safe,” added their father, Belial.

“Yeah, we’re fine,” replied Dante looking over at Resureyu who was asleep in her bed now, “…And I’m sure she is too.” Miyaku nodded her head as her silver hair shook freely with her, “Alright, well go back to sleep now, dear.”

Dante watched as they left, “Goodnight, Mom and Dad,” he said happily. The adults turned their heads and nodded, “Goodnight, son,” and left shutting the door behind them with a click sound.
