Dying Young

Dark circles beneath these tired eyes
Medication bestows no relief
Been drowned in doctors shattered lies
The pain will never cease

Hopeless from the beginning
Never had the chance of winning
Life in broken pieces
Displaced on trodden faces

Family cries
Is it wrong I wish to die
Blood count low
Heart rate slow

Lost in memories once forgotten
Look how far away we’ve gotten
Hospital visits no longer brief
Fragrance of death, absorbed it deep

Sins take their heavy toll
Once religious, forever cynic
Everyday a lost moment
Death arising, no longer hiding

Selfish, conceited stance
Reproach the pitying glance
Surrounded by faces
Deserted, abandoned

Deathbed of pleasure
Sweetened fatality
Lies and deception
Genes of cursed mutation

The end is near
Past denial and anger
Bypassed bargaining
Entering depression

Acceptance
Tragic finality
Crave the conclusion
Yet ever yearn for the unlived life
