I stare at the blank page,

Unsure of what to write,

Thoughts run through my head,

Not the right one, though try I might.

Finding the words to say,

Exactly how I feel,

I know what I want to say,

But the words just aren’t real.

I reach out to grab them,

But they fly away in fear,

Like trying to catch a butterfly,

You want to hold it dear.

I pray for the words to come,

How? I don’t care,

I need to express myself with writing,

In my life there is too much to bear.

I need to get this feeling out,

I reach but nothing’s there,

It’s like swinging the net to catch the butterfly,

But all you find is air.
