we’ll always be together.”
That’s what you promised me back then.
So how did it end up like this?

I’m with him,
and you’re with her,
and we don’t talk anymore.

They used to be together, too—
and they thought the same things we did.

He’s with me,
and she’s with you,
and they don’t talk anymore.

If there’s anything I’ve learned,
it’s that we’re all the same.
So in a way,
they’re still together,
and so are we.

Except they aren’t
and we aren’t
and that’s how it’s going to have to be.
