I listen to the rain fall
as I lay awake in bed
I wonder why I cannot sleep
and why I'm not somewhere else instead.

I begin thinking of you
and a smile curves across my face
I wonder if you're thinking of me
or if you're asleep with your blankets embrace.

I close my eyes and try to sleep
with hopes of having dreams of you
But my insomnia returns
and my chances of much sleep are very few.

It's going to be a long restless night
and later on I'll be tired
With no sleep I'm mixing things up
and becoming uninspired.

The music goes off
and the power goes out
My pen struggles to move
and I run out of things to write about.
