Three bracelets
Given to her
By the one she loved
One said COURAGE--
To be brave and true;
Another spoke of STRENGTH--
To lead you through dark times
The last read LOVE--
Eternal and beautiful
An emotion to withstand
All others
The bracelets were not sturdy
They were not made perfect
They wore out quickly
Yet the order in which they broke
Left a message
There were three bracelets
Given to her
By the one she loved.
The first to go was COURAGE;
The loss of individuality and fight
The second one left her
Not too long after the first
This one was STRENGTH
Leaving her defenseless
Against trials and hardship
Those two left her
With very little protection
But yet one among them remained
There were three bracelets
Given to her
By the one she loved
The last one left
Spelled out LOVE
And although it may seem
A simple word at first
LOVE was the emotion
That surpassed all others
For in love contained COURAGE
And STRENGTH
Both charms the girl thought
She had been shielded from.
LOVE had the power to protect.
There were three bracelets
Given to her
By the one she loved.
At last the one remaining
Did fall away
The LOVE had been snapped
And broken
And although this may be cause for grief
LOVE always ends at some point
The three bracelets
That were given to her
By the one she loved--
Although broken--
Were still held by the girl
She still held all three powers
The three bracelets that were
Given to her
By the one she loved
Taught a lesson in their creation:
That even though they may snap
And they may break
Or go through trials of wear
As long as they are still in possession
Those charms and emotions
Shall never disappear.
