Creators
The universe was nothing but endless darkness and it extended for as far as the eye could see. The creator, an eternal being, had just finished creating his angels. They were beings with two legs, two arms, a head, torso, their own thoughts and hearts. Two white wings, magnificent and glorious, sprung from their backs. Through their abilities the angels formed ranks within their society.
A high angel (seraphim) named Lucifel was tired of awaiting the Creators orders to further expand life forms and decided to take things into his own hands. He gathered all his loyal followers that he had won over with his unending charisma, his intelligence, strength and grace and attacked the Creator, in hopes of winning over.
They were unable to beat the Creator but did manage to place him into a deep sleep inside a deep chamber. What the Angel Army didn’t know at that time was that the Creator was not one being but twelve separate ones that combined together to make a council. Since they only sealed one member of the council, the remaining eleven were able to free him.
Most of Lucifel’s army had been defeated with that attack so with great sorrow he descended upon Yggdrasil, the World Tree. To separate himself further from the Creator Lucifel dropped the ‘l’ at the end of his name and replaced it with a ‘r’ , changing his name to Lucifer; an angel fallen from grace. Yggdrasil was a giant tree that the Creator had made but wasn’t about to use, out of fear for the power embedded on its’ bark. Yggdrasil was floated in the area called ‘space’ surrounded by a protective aura. The aura prevented its power from expanding beyond its branches. Lucifer, unable to create new life without the trees’ power, sought a way to release the auras hold of it.
His remaining army thought of a way that the World Tree’s power would be unable to expand yet still be usable. They would need to sacrifice three soldiers who must give up their identity and life with absolute certainty and without a doubt in their hearts. The three volunteers formed a triangle around Yggdrasil and began a chant, raising their arms straight up and their voices gradually increasing in volume. Their souls filtered out of their bodies and combined above Yggdrasil. A bright light shining where their spirits were erupted. They combined into one entity and became Nidhogg, protector and suppressor of the World Tree.
The remaining angel army threw all their power behind one attack and aimed it at the heart of Yggdrasil. The aura shield exploded into millions upon millions of little pieces, scattering through the universe with their shinning lights, where they’ll remain forever. Nidhogg was born in the image of a giant dragon, its wings spread wide and its tail coiled tightly against the bark of Yggdrasil. The tree’s power was in the form of ball of white light that extended from its roots. Lucifer along with his remaining members of his army began another chant. They closed their eyes and had their palms facing the glowing light. The light began to drain the surrounding fallen angel’s powers.
Too soon they began falling. Their life energy was drained and given to the tree and glowing light in order to increase its power. The light began to expand bigger and bigger until all the remaining angels, save Lucifer, had fallen. Lucifer’s face had paled and his life energy was almost completely spent. He knew that he would no longer be able to remain in his original form anymore so after casting a final look upon Nidhogg he took on a form in his image. Lucifer’s arms had gone inside his body as well as his legs. His skin became black and covered in scales. This form would have to last him for a while and in order to regain his energy faster he coiled himself tightly upon Yggdrasil’s roots, feeding off the newly created Earth and the tree’s own power. He mourned the loss of his fallen comrades, but was still beyond pleased with the results their deaths had accomplished. The World Trees’ power was immense; it had created life out of its own essence.
Lucifer gazed upward toward the branches of the World Tree in hopes of catching glimpses of life being formed, but what he saw shocked him. The chamber that his army and him had sealed away the Creator had opened and there, floating in mid air, stood not one Creator but twelve separate beings. Lucifer could only look on in awe at the scene they fashioned. Behind the twelve beings was an ethereal light so bright, so hot, and so massive that it expanded beyond the size of the newly created Earth and bore light and heat upon its surface. The twelve beings floated out of the chamber and encircled Yggdrasil. Nidhogg gave out an indignant roar that thundered the heavens.
The twelve beings began a chant all of their own and soon, with the help of the colossal light they had emerged from, began to create life forms upon the Earth’s surface. First to be produced were shrubbery and trees of all kinds. Grass and dirt, mountains and valleys, rivers, lakes and oceans; all was formed. The twelve beings left the creation of any other animals and life forms up to the World Tree. Yggdrasil then proceed to create birds, so they could feel the wind and air among their feathers, fish, so their bodies were surround by water, animals with fur upon their skin were created soon after to live off the earth, and small dragons and many other reptiles were given birth to next, in honor of those who had sacrificed their very beings into protecting the World Tree and to absorb the heat emitted from the smoldering sphere above.
The last of the creatures to be made from the Twelve Beings’ hands were in honor of those faithful angels that still reside in the heavens and had protected their kingdom from the rebellious army. The new beings were the spun image of the angels. They had two arms, two legs, a torso and head. They had minds and hearts of their own and would flourish upon the Earth’s surface. They are to live off of the main elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Air would fill their lungs, allowing them to breathe. Fire would heat their bodies to keep them warm and cook their food. The earth would provide them with nourishment and food to fill their empty bellies. Lastly, water to quench their thirst. They must live off all the elements and continue living and reproducing for all eternity. That is the only way to honor both the angels and the elements sacrifice.
The creators then played witness to the birth of many other beings, but before they left to their eternal slumber, they paid a final visit to the being that had rushed their plans, forcing them to make things prematurely. Lucifer had looked onto creation with envy, wishing that he too could build and give birth to many new creatures and things. He was caught unawares by the twelve creators for they had surrounded him.
Lucifer looked on with wide eyes and baited breath. He knew that he had broken the Creed. He had created an army in hopes of destroying these twelve beings; surely they would not let him live. The beings began a new chant, which seemed to be created as they went along for Lucifer had never heard it before and he was the smartest in the heavens. His tail twitched of its own accord and rose closer to his mouth. He began to sputter something, but only hissing noises escaped his cavern. It seemed the beings weren’t going to take any chances when up against him, they wouldn’t allow him to chant a defensive shield or to attack them offensively. His tail continued to twitch; it came closer and closer to his own mouth.
“You will live eternally, eating yourself and growing back in the same pace and pain so unimaginable will flow through your veins. Down in the cold soil you will lie, never to gaze upon the creations on this earth. You will be stripped of your name ‘Lucifer’ and be forever called ‘Ouroboros’: the eternal one. That is your punishment for going against the Creed, against your own kind, and against us!” cried the twelve beings together.
Before Ouroboros could utter a final word his tail had wormed its way into his mouth and against his will he began to chew upon the scaly flesh, his pain escalating to new heights he never thought imaginable. He wept for his weakness, he wept for the pain he knew he would feel for all eternity, but lastly he wept for all those poor souls he will eventually corrupt in a last attempt to leave his mark upon creation. He would twist, warp, and vandalize all that was created. The newborn life forms would create new evils and the cycle would go on forever. They would follow down his path, destroy their own kind as he did in the heavens and go against their creators for making them into vile creatures that feed and live off the blood and flesh of others; who, without the water, air, fire and earth would not be able to live. The creators, seeing their job complete and unknowing about Ouraboros’ dark thoughts, finally separated themselves from one another’s presence and scattered into the sky to rest forever in the image of their favorite creation they had observed on the planet.
