His Poem
He sought to be her tree,
But he feared he wouldn’t be,
A very good tree.
He sought to be her corner,
But he feared he’d be too musty
For a web like her.
He sought to be her violin,
But feared he would be much too quiet
For a bow like her.
He sought to be her pod,
But feared he’d be too small,
For peas like her.
He wanted to be brave,
He wished that he could have courage,
He wished he were a man, but
Fear made him a boy.
