Fifteen years and three hundred sixty three days later
Ayden walked into the kitchen to holding her tunic over her nose. "Aunt Sarah what is that god awful smell?" She said in a muffled voice. "Oh it's for old man Spencers out in town. Poor chap can't walk this far." "Yeah I know but why do this in the kitchen? It stinks!" Ayden said still through her tunic. "Atleast open some windows!" She said as she strode over to the few windows in the kitchen throwing them open.
Turning back to her aunt she asked, "Have you seen dad today? I can't seem to find him we were planning to go horseback riding." Ayden sighed and walked off when her aunt didn't answer her and stalked up to her room. Slamming the door behind her she sunk down onto the floor under her window, soft rays of morning sunlight pouring in.
She gave a startled gasp as a brown tabby cat jumped down from her window sill. "Ello Tabernickle. How are you?" The cat gave a disdainful mew before stalking off under her bed. Shaking her head she crossed her legs and started breathing deeply. She relaxed after about fifteen minutes and let her mind wander over the things she needed to do for her sixteenth birthday party in a few days.
She started when she heard a knock on her door. Puzzled she went over to the door and opened it ajar. "Oh hi Aunt Gaby, what are you doing up here?" She asked giving her aunt a puzzled look. "I'm delivering laundry dear its just finished drying and theres a messenger boy downstairs with something for you." She said pushing her way into the room with a basket full of clothing all folded neatly.
Ayden rushed down the stairs and came to a sliding stop at the door. Wrenching it open she startled the messenger boy causing him to fall over, she reconized from the village. She leaned against the doorframe and gave him an amused look as he picked himself up and brushed himself off looking for something on the ground. "Can I help you?" Ayden asked trying to hold back a giggle.
He looked up startled again and then picked up a small package at his feet "Sorry miss, I'm delivering this to a miss...Ayden. Would that be ye'?" Ayden nodded still amused at the boy. 'He has to be atleast thirteen to be working as a messenger in that village.' She thought to herself. "I'm Erin, by the way." He said holding out his hand. Ayden shook it softly and smiled. "So Erin care to join me inside if your finished? I think me Aunt has just finished lunch."
He nodded dumbly and stepped inside then let his mouth fall open gaping at the interior of the house. Ayden gave him another amused look and waved her hand dismisivly in the air. "Sorry 'bout the mess its normally so much cleaner." He looked at her and closed his mouth then opened it again. Nothing coming out he closed it and followed her to the kitchen. "Ello Aunt Gaby, Aunty Sarah. Got enough for another mouth?" She said entering the kitchen.
Erin blinked several times when he enterted the kitchen first noticing all the herbs lined on the walls, then he noticed the couldron simmering with a delicious stew hanging in a large fireplace. Then he noticed twin women who both hugged Ayden and then said hello to him. Erin nodded dumbly in response then sat down next to Ayden.
He leaned over to wisper in Aydens ear carefully watching the twin women. "Are those twins actually your aunts?" he asked silently. Ayden shook her head then looked down as if strangly entranced by the swirls in the wood in her table. "Triplets...Me mum died." She said silently then brightened up when one of her aunts layed down a bowl infront of her. "Best healers and cooks in the whole village I'd say!" She said digging in.
