Lies
By Vaze Stream

Vivid azure eyes snapped open, finding pure darkness greeting in return. The pair of orbs blinked in confusion before widening greatly when his knees hit the top of the dark abyss. A choked gasp of alarm escaped the arid throat of the glass coffin’s inhabitant while his slender figure tensed evidently, unbuckling his stiff legs. The person dared not to move, even to brush away the annoying strand of gold from his eyes, from his apprehension of being confined in what made him develop a phobia for enclosed spaces years before.

Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear.

He moved his arm gingerly in attempt to feel for the air in front of him, meeting an imperceptible barrier. A soft frown graced his features, shifting just slightly in his uncomfortable position. His teeth clenched as he traced along the smooth surface with his fingers before retracting his hand, whispering a name belonging to whom he wished most to be there, ‘Trey…’

Sealed with lies through so many tears.

Even if it was the reason for his claustrophobia, he would prefer staying locked up in the grand coffin he was placed in before, unconscious, rather than kept in a glass case and buried where earth could collapse onto him, fully alert. The man inhales shakily, noticing that breathing had come difficult with every passing moment. His anxiety helped not in preserving the oxygen left, and quite the contrary, it’s reducing it twice as fast. He fell into a fit of coughing come a few minutes, not feeling the air reach his lungs.

Lost from within, pursuing the end.

The man’s slender fingers twitched involuntarily, his head facing his side as he panted for air, receiving none still. ‘Trey…’ The name was whispered again; almost pleadingly as crystal-like droplets fell from his eyes. The teen gradually stopped trying to inhale despite biological law, his body taking over his mind and disregarded the fact that he should have died from asphyxia. ‘Help me…’ he begged into the darkness, voice raspy and evident with fright.

I fight for the chance to be lied to again.

The tenant’s face had grown ashen from lack of particularized need. ‘Help…’ He whispered desperately, ignoring the brutal fact clawing at his mind averring that his voice could actually reach no one. The tears had stopped, leaving a damp trace on his fair features. ‘Help me…’

You will never be strong enough.

Beads of sweat rolled down the clammy forehead of the coffin’s occupant, brows creased before the sleeping figure woke with a start. He had fallen asleep after what seemed like hours of intimidating silence, turning out restless as the dream he had continue to haunt his wake. He had always known he was the one who had imprecated his brother with his curse, turning him into a half-being, though he never knew about who else he had attacked and killed during his time of longing.

You will never be good enough.

The man trashed around the restricted space in attempt to block out the flashes of the victims. His victims. ‘No…’ He denied silently, only assuring himself. ‘…no…’ he let out, his voice growing fainter as he cried again. He stifled a sob, blinking clear droplets away from eyes. He felt his heart gave as the image of him feeding on his lover’s vein resurfaced. I didn’t…He thought silently, refusing to admit the caustic truth. ‘Trey said I didn’t…’ The man choked out, voice muffled and came out dry from the drafty air inside the confined space.

You were never conceived in love.

Go away… He ordered silently, forcing the thoughts back, It was a bad dream…an overly bad dream… He heard himself thinking of the words so commonly used to calm him down. Words he so longed to hear ever since he woke up. ‘Let me out…’ He mumbled tiredly, tears now streaming down his pallid face again. He muffled his sobs with his hand, arm against the lid of the coffin searching for an egress in feeble attempts. Even if he had found any, it served no purpose.

You will not rise above.

The man’s trembling hands moved up towards his shoulders, fingers closing around the thin clothing he’s sporting. The tenant shivered unwillingly as memories of his capture perturbed him. He had yelled, screamed so desperately for assistance yet no one came to his aid. Given no chance of defense at the accusations, he was brought down by so many pairs of hands, all of that are determined to put his deviant side to rest in the most malevolent way known to men. Their intentions were so obvious that it had sent shivers up his spine, proven when he caught glimpse of a rectangular case before he had felt a ruthless blow to his head which sent him to oblivion.

They’ll never see.

An unexpected pang of famine engulfed him from inside, his vile recollections receding as he whimpered. He could feel his incisors honed, drawing aches to his gum as he reluctantly parted his mouth. For the first time, he was conscious of the deep sense of deprivation that had developed fast from within him. Blood… He thought silently as he could smell the substance lingering in the air, suddenly aware of his keen senses and knowing the scent had come from him, unless there are other occupants in his translucent prison.

I’ll never be.

It can’t be helped... The vampire thought silently, staring into the dark void, his thoughts unconsciously settling with the image of the olive-haired man. He found enough will to slowly sink his pointed fangs into his wrist, drawing thick crimson liquid on the pale flesh. His body winced against his will at the piercing pain, sending a streak of nerves up his small frame. A shudder ran through the frame of the occupant before he gingerly closed his lips over the wound, instantly tasting the bitter iron fluid on his tongue.

I’ll struggle on and on to feed this hunger.

The man laid on the hard surface of the glass, worn. His lack of oxygen and just recently, blood, had stripped him off his remaining energy. He remained in his position for what, to him, seemed almost like an eternity, though he believes no such entity exists. A fine brow twitched at the sickening crack of glass as he was brought back from his siesta, sharp silver dust sizzled on his features. ‘I wish I could see you first though…’ The male murmured quietly, feeling his nature kicking to burst out stronger than a dash of adrenaline as the glass threatened to break. He paused before closing his tear-stained azure orbs, seeing no hope out of his predicament when the glass held its limit.

Burning deep inside of me.

A soft sound of life deterred him from his agonizing slumber. He recognized the barking of a dog? He disregarded it, certain his ears are deceiving him. The last time he was conscious, his body was throbbing ubiquitously. The shards that had cracked had been well embedded in his frame from the weight of the earth above. Had he died, free of his fateful curse? The man heard himself questioning his conscience. He felt warm tears running down his own cheeks as the heavy weight from before had become surprisingly lighter, or perhaps cease to exist entirely. A soft voice reached his hearing and he stirred slightly again, wishing to see the owner. Fatigued azure eyes opened to meet radiant green.

But through my tears breaks a blinding light.

Recognition rushed through the man, flooding his thoughts with relief. Whether this is another fragment of his imagination or incarnated from his excessive hope, he cared not.

‘Are you alright?’ The other asked quietly as soon as the male had so much as opened his eyes, his tender hands was careful not to touch the wounds to where the shards had been minutes ago. The vampire managed a delicate nod before he flinched as he felt a wet rough surface ran over his cuts. ‘Hani, stop that.’ He added to the dog in a soft mutter, looking disapprovingly as the dog stopped from licking the wounds.

Birthing a dawn to this endless night.

‘Trey,’ the man whispered, hearing his own weary voice barely leaving his tongue.

Green orbs blinked at the call of his name, turning his gaze back to the male whom he is cradling. ‘Yes, who else would I be?’ He replied with a hint of a grin spreading on his lips, even if another part of him had no heart to joke at the moment. He brought a hand to caress the man’s cheek, gently wiping off a smudge of dirt mixed with clotted blood.

‘An angel would be an overstatement,’ the vampire stated, finding it quite effortless to speak even when the rest of his whole body fails him. He offered a weak smile as the other chuckled.

‘I suppose.’

Arms outstretched, awaiting me.

‘Your brother is on his way. He told me not to move you so…’ Trey gave a small shrug before glancing down at the other, ‘I’m glad I found you.’ He let out in a whisper, eyes soft as he stroked the dirtied golden strands, ‘Though I admit you scared me for a while for not breathing.’

The unmoving man merely continued smiling as he shifted closer to the other’s torso, ‘I’m glad you found me then.’

The brunette gave another chuckle as he wrapped his arms around the frail figure, feeling it wince slightly, ‘Am I hurting you?’ he asked, hesitantly loosening his hold.

Golden strands ruffled as the other shook his head lightly, ‘It’s fine.’

An open embrace upon a bleeding tree.

‘Just…sleep. Everything will be alright.’ The man assured, stroking the flaxen hair as he allowed the other to rest against him. He leaned in closer, soothingly nuzzling the other’s forehead. ‘If you say so,’ the immobile figure replied with a smile graced on his lips, ‘I love you, Trey.’ He managed in a quiet whisper yet the words were certain.

‘Since when have you gone mushy?’ Trey asked with a grin, moving lower to peck lightly at the other’s cut lips, ‘I love you too,’ he answered, receiving a widened smile.

Rest in me and I’ll comfort you.

‘You’re late though…’ The younger man whispered, looking serene with his eyes closed even if his skin is stained with dried blood. ‘I called and waited long for you...’ he complained almost childishly as his hand reached up to hold on to Trey’s shirt, wondering where the slight strength had come from. The other blinked before taking the hand in his own, entwining it gently before clasping them together. He placed butterfly kisses down from the finger until he stopped at the obvious deep punctured marks near the wrist’s artery. He frowned; thankful the other had his eyes closed.

I have lived and I died for you.

‘I’m sorry,’ He apologized softly before noticing the blood still oozing occasionally from the wound. He tore off a portion of his sleeve and carefully wrapped it around the man’s wrist in attempt to stop the bleeding. ‘You have not complained of me being tardy for years now,’ He chuckled as he finished, pulling the other close in a protective hug, ‘And I wouldn’t give you a reason to if you promise me you would never feed on yourself again.’ Trey whispered nuzzling the other’s ear affectionately though his voice had grew stern.

Abide in me and I vow to you.

‘I wouldn’t.’ The man answered, burying his face to the other’s shoulder, ‘I promise I wouldn’t.’ He repeated in a soft whisper, feeling the other’s arm supporting him in his position and broke into another smile, ‘Just promise you won’t leave me,’ he enquired, ‘ever.’

Trey laughed and placed a kiss on the other’s cheek, ‘I’ll never leave, desert, abandon or forsake you, happy?’ He replied with a grin, making a nice imitation to a life thesaurus.

‘Scarcely. I’m serious you idiot’ the man retorted, chuckling lightly. He felt the arms tighten around him and heard a thoughtful whisper to his ear.

‘I’ll never leave you, Denn.’

I will never forsake you.

End.
