I followed her home one day,
In secret, or so I thought.
She led me on a twisting path,
To places unknown and of beauty untold.
At last she stopped,
Turned and said,
“Come dance with me”
And so I did.
She held out her hand,
Pale in the moonlight
I took hers in mine,
And we fit just right.
She led and I followed
In this dance of love.
Gradually faster until
My heart beat quick
And in time with hers.
It was a fiery dance,
Intimate, intricate and complicated,
But we never misstepped,
Ever aware of the other,
Finally becoming one.
I pulled her close,
And held her in.
“I love you, “I said
And meant it in my heart.
She did not respond,
Lost in the dance
She continued though
Faster now, we raced through the steps.
It was near dawn
When we stopped
All at once,
Without a pause.
She looked in my eyes,
Gazed into my being.
When at last she spoke,
It was in a voice,
Not gasping for air,
But calm as could be
I can never forget the
Words she said next
Four of them, simple
And clear.
“I love you too.”
I kissed her then
The sweet kiss of love,
Filled with passion and more.
For our dance brought us together,
A bond for forever.
