Adaline helplessly kicked and hit furiously at he second captor this day. This time she knew that it was not a nice man. She smacked him over and over until she let her body slump in distress. The man rode on and on, his grip still as tight as ever on her waist. She knew all she could do was wait. They rode past many towns but they were all abandoned ones and Adaline could not see anyone to cry out to. They rode for at least another hour at rapid speed until they finally halted in a beautiful meadow filled with bright orange lilies, tall green grass waving in the wind, and small creatures running all about. The man pulled Adaline off the top of the horse and tied both of her hands together and tied the other end to himself. Adaline had to go wherever he went, to water the horse, gather some berries, and gather dry grass. Then as quickly as they had come to the awesome land, they departed from it.

That night Adaline was so tired that she wished she had a warm bed to curl upon, no matter where that bed may be. No sooner had she wished it that they came upon a small village where many people were bustling around. Adaline seized her chance and called out for help.

“Please, somebody! He has captured me can’t you see?” She was shocked when instead of helping, all the villagers just shook their heads and stared. She was about to turn back to desperately turn back for help one last time when she gasped. There, standing before them, was a huge towering castle. It was much bigger than her own home and Adaline was frightened at how empty it seemed. The gate opened as if the dark man had commanded it to do so and they entered the unfamiliar fortress solemnly. The man dismounted and pulled Princess Adaline along side him as they entered the castle. They walked through many brightly lit halls with grand carpets that seemed to sink under Adaline’s feet. Many servants bustled by, seemingly unnoticed by the shadowed man that held the princess captive. Finally they walked through the threshold of a great door encrusted with jewels.

Adaline found herself being thrown to the ground in front of a man who looked to be a king.

“My Lord,” the shadow man addressed him with a scratching voice. “I have brought you another slave girl, this one you may approve of. She is Princess of Capsion, a worthy jewel for your collection.” The dark man reported all of this with slight amusement. The young girl turned to finally face the king but shrunk back at what she saw.
