To be a shadow can be comforting

It is a lonely place-- I don't recommend it

It is a place one can exist in solitary

(And I do mean true solitary)

It is a space that can be inhabited;

An enviroment that can be adopted

By those who wish to disappear--

To fade in and out of society's views

You can stay in the shadows

But can also exist as a person

This may sound glamorous;

Having the best of both worlds

Yet, in fact, it really isn't.

For the life of a Shadow

Exists in the dark

And those who are Real

Who exist in the reality surrounding you

Outcast you for being a Shadow

When you only want to become

One of them

Shadows are the ones who fall back

Stand against the wall, unnoticed

Shadows are the ones

Who barely interact

Who only half-heartedly exist

In a world that doesn't parallel

To the Normal's reality

Not unless they want to change

And the trouble with the Shadows is

That blackness isn't easy to break

Like a horrid addiction, it consumes.

The Normal's that have cast them out

For so long

Are not quick to understand

Why such an adament Shadow

Would want to, after so long

To become a Normal.
